My girlfriend came here to get the battery in our key fob for our Prius changed. I don't recommend anyone else do this, if they aren't sure how to open the fob they won't admit it, and tell you to take it elsewhere.
Instead the guy who worked on it didn't know what he was doing and he broke key fob into two pieces, and messed up the threading on the internal screws. The guy gave it back to my girlfriend and said he was sorry it broke. He also took a personal phone call while he was working on the key fob.
My girlfriend isn't confrontational so she just left and came home to show me the key fob. I went back down to the store and and asked for the manager on duty and spoke with Dave, an older guy.
Dave looked at the fob, confirmed his coworker broke it, and then gave it back to me. He asked if I still wanted the battery replaced on the broken key fob. I didn't see any reason to put a new battery in a broken key fob.
I asked what they were willing to do since they broke the key fob and now I have to go buy a new one and get it programmed.
Dave said they weren't going to do anything about it and "that is just the nature of the thing." As I walked out he said "this kind of thing happens."
Well I have never been to any other store where they will agree to try and replace a part, break your possession and then shrug and tell you "that's the nature of the thing."
I've always preferred Ace to the big hardware stores, but this was a terrible experience. I will keep using Ace but I will probably never come back to this store, and I will never trust Ace to touch...
Read moreI m sure this location has been in temple terrace for ions however, I feel like if you don't fit the mold of what a typical "ACE HARDWARE" individual should look like they seem a little prejudgemental.
I felt like they were watching me as if I were going to stuff a tool box down my pants. I am particularly bothered because I drove from Land O Lakes to buy several cans of plasti dip. However, just wanted to spray the particular color I was looking to purchase which by the way was about 7 to 9 cans.
The goal was to make sure it match what I d be spraying it on. I believe most people would want to the same thing. I did not spend money only to find out it wasn't a match. I think most people would be this way including the owner / manger. Truth be told I knew they had what I wanted so drove 40 min only to be prejudged...
Btw. The spray can had already been opened and sprayed so I just wanted to spray it on a piece of cardboard to ensure this was exactly what I needed.
In conclusion, I actually went to Home Depot instead and purchased and was able to try it before hand. I do understand there position i.e. Ace Hardware as a small business but at least learn some basic interpersonal skills and effectively communicate to customers that may not be totally abreast with how a smaller hardware store functions.
I failed to mention my experience with the ACE on hillsborough Ave has...
Read moreI was getting some hardware from the aisle with the nuts and washers and I had numbers written down like you're supposed to you on a brown paper bag and I'm standing at the end of the aisle looking through the nylon plastic washers and the female employee that's kind of large sized went ahead and took my bag with multiple numbers and prices written down and left and fled the area of that of that part of the store and I have a shattered right wrist and I'm riding with my left hand and I'm right handed. I said that's not cool at all to take my bag with all those numbers that I wrote down. And the guy with the big perm that looks like he's needed a haircut about three months ago made a threat to call the cops on me for complaining while the elderly guy with the white hair named Jim stood there and nothing about him threatening me and the customer is always right. Homie...
