Well! That figures! I just wrote this major book review of Terre Haute Regional Hospital!!! But couldn't get it to post!!!! Apparently I had to punch on the stars first!!!! Dang it!!!! I am getting FACEBOOK SYNDROME now, so I will just make this short and sweet!!!! Twenty (20) weeks ago this very morning Terre Haute Regional Hospital HEAD TRAUMA SURGEON DR. CHRISTINE TOEVS saved my pathetic life!!!! I had two holes blown in my stomach from an ulcer that I have had 12 plus years!!!! I will never forget her or the staff at Terre Haute Regional Hospital! The 4th Floor East Wing Nursing Staff, my Therapy (Walking assistants) the Financial Ladies, even the Food Service (Sudexo) and Housekeeping Staff were amazing!!! Dr. Matt Lee, Physicians Assistant to Dr. Toevs came with her everyday to check on my progress!!!! They let me act really crazy with them! So I would not agree with the person who said the Doctors don't care about you! Please, just as with anything else, do not group all as one!!!! One Bad Apple Don't Spoil The Whole Bunch Girl!!!! Ha ha!!!! They were all amazing!!!!!! I wrote a letter to Terre Haute Tribune Star about them but they would never print it!!!!! Said they could not put in a format their readers could understand!!!!! I WILL NEVER FORGET THEM OR BE ABLE TO REPAY THEM WITH ENOUGH KIND WORDS!!! I LOVED BEING THERE, except for crappy hospital beds and the food was a little bit to be desired! To which Matt Lee said on my last day, "Stella, if the beds were good and the food was good, no one would want to leave!!!!" True, true! I didn't want to leave because they were so good to me!!!!! Had to have emergency surgery and they kept saying I was dying, I was really sick! Dr. Toevs told my husband and family after surgery, "50/50 chance, I have done all I can do, it is in God's hands now!!!" My sister is a Housekeeper there and told me Dr. Toevs was on Real Life Stories of the E.R. once! I googled it! Really good story, she had to remove a chainsaw from a tree trimmer's neck!!!!! I told her, "I'M NOT WORTHY!!!" She was very distinguished, yet really down to earth! Let me hold her hand and I asked if she would adapt me! She says, "Absolutely!!!" ha ha! I cannot say enough about these wonderful people! Nurse Cindy! With her "I am gonna do three things for you each time she would come in! (Older/experienced nurse) My Jade!!!!! Kendyll, Anna, Faith, Volunteen, I could go on and on and on! They will know who they are and how good they were to me! I will never forget them!!!!!!! The student intern and lady that took my stomach tubes out!!!!!!! OMGuts!!!! That hurt worse than having a baby!!!! She said, just keep talking Stella!!! ha ha!!!!!!! I probably cussed them out a little! Well, I will close for now! Maybe write again later, because so many good memories of Friday, June 29, 2018!!!! Given a SECOND CHANCE at life!!!! OH, and get this, One day before my Health Insurance was to expire because had quit my job on June 2, 2018!!!!! If had still been at work, at the top of stair in Lincoln Quad doing summer work would probably be dead!!!! SO CHRISTINE TOEVS

As a result my wound vac was removed and a wet/dry dressing applied. While applying the dressing the nurse unrolled amd tore off a piece of tape that flew back and stuck to the front of her shirt. she the laughed about it, pulledit off of her shirt and stuck indirectly on my wound that should have had a sterile wound vac on it. As a result I spent my first night there trying to sleep in a soaking wet bed as the wound was on my hind end causing their wet/dry dressing to leak. The dressing was also terribly painful when removed the following day by a Tonya who thought it appropriate to tell me to "get over it" when i screamed at the pain of her trying to pull this bandage off of a fairly large gunshot wound. Causing me to feel victimized all over again. They absolutely refused to follow the care instructions from my wound team in Indy. At one point their doctor Kumar, the director or coordinator Janet, a surgeon name unknown and their head nurse name unknown came into my room demanding that I agree to their treatment regimen and allow them to cut IU out altogether. Had it not been for the fact that I had a family member in the room who had been witness to the original agreement to follow IUs treatment plan ot sure how that would have turned out. My meds were wrong every single day. They were trying to feed me meds that had been ordered filling a hysterectomy in 2019. What if I hadn't been on the ball like so many patients and had just taken what they gave me? One nurse, Karen, appeared to be high during her shifts. This was noted by several visitors. At oneepointi went 38 hours without eating because they failed to enter my meal requests. Worst of all...I was under a protective order. No one should have been able to find out I was there let alone find my room and enter it. However, a man was able to aproach the information desk in the lobby and was given my room number. He exited the elevator directly in front of the nurses station. Walked straight to my room. Not one person ried to stop or even question him. Thank God he was not one of the men who had shot me and left me for dead in my driveway. Furthermore, i see that there are posts on Facebook from a nurse employed by Regional, Missy Pipes Collins, attacking me and revealing information she should not have been privvy to. I believe that is a huge HIPPA violation. If I am ever in need of a rehab again I will call heritage animal hospital before i will call Regional. Absolutely unacceptable behaviorfrom everyone i dealt with with the exception of...
Read moreI voluntarily was in the behavioral health unit for depression and anxiety and nurses were rude and acted like they had no care or consideration for most of the patients. Mind you there were a few nurses who were fantastic and really cared about the way their job affected people. In my record papers after being released they had put false information in my documents and have no clue where they came up with info that I specifically did not give them. I was followed up with a dietician there during my stay and was told Iâd receive protein shakes to help maintain weight and was never provided them and that will be billed on my insurance. I did not receive them but will be billed for something I didnât get. The choice of movies watched were sad or violent and I felt was inappropriate under circumstances of the environment. The doctor refused to talk with my parents and other patients I communicated with had problems with the doctor not listening. I have rights and they were not considered even for my own well being and what I thought would help me best. They wanted to give me sleeping pills when I had no problem sleeping and I politely refused and slept fine. I signed a 24 hr release paper twice after being there several days because the antidepressants were helping along with therapy and i was refused my rights both times even after voluntarily signing myself in and being compliant during my stay. My parents tried getting me out after 3days and wanted a lawyer and they said itâd make my stay worse and I was in for another 3 days after still all the while being compliant amongst everything. I went to all the therapy groups everyday. The first couple days my parents and a close friend would call and I was never informed until formally told by my parents during visitation. My parents also were concerned about the number from the phones during call times because it shows up scam likely. I was also told Iâd get a follow up call to see how I was and I missed a call and called back and the man told me that âAshlandâ would call me back and I never received that call afterwards as a follow up. I told them that my insurance would be canceled and after that they suddenly released me. Itâs all about the money and my stay there haunts me more than before I admitted myself in. Terrible stay and...
