White Castle — Restaurant in Indiana

This is, hands down? One of the BEST fast food places I have been in, in a long time. So impressed with Everyone in that place today around 4 pm Nov 13th 2022. Every employee on shift was going above and beyond!! They did everything by the corporate manual. Food was made fresh, employees were knowledgeable, friendly smiled, greeted me right away, did the upsell and didn't try and press me when I declined. Came right back to the register when I went and asked for more mustard. I was very impressed with everyone at this location. I can not remember the last time I was so thrilled with a fast food meal. The manager on duty and Every staff member should be acknowledged that was working tonight. I'm retired after a life of Fast Food Management. It's next to impossible to impress me with any restaurant. Let alone fast food places. When I encounter an over the top, by the book one? Which is so rare today? I Must give you a shining review. People read these things today. They rely on other customers opinions. I love to give Honest reviews and not all of mine are so happy positive or praise heaping as this one. But Every employee and manager working there this after noon? Ought to be bonused! Take that crew to the bad locations of yours and have them retrain the bad crews. They were All that good!! I've been through the drive thru a couple of times and they were friendly, the service was fast, and the food (I only like the fries and chicken rings) was hot. My husband and I went on Valentine's Day when they had their special, reservation only, table service event and they did a fantastic job.

However, this most recent visit was to the lobby with some college visitors from another country who really wanted to try White Castle. It was a total disaster. The trash was overflowing, all of the tables were filthy, the floors were sticky and the place was full of flies. The soda machine was out of every flavor but one and they were out of chicken fries! Half of our group ordered burgers (not me, I think they're gross) and the other half ordered chicken sliders, since they were out of chicken rings. We asked for no cheese, but all the chicken sandwiches had cheese and one of them was a fish slider. While that was unexpected, it was actually better than the spongy chicken.

The staff was nice and apologetic (they had two workers not show up), but this place is poorly managed. A lobby doesn't get THAT disgusting in one shift unless they was literally no one attending it. And if employees are no shows, managers are supposed to take up the slack or juggle the other workers appropriately.

Needless to say, I won't be back not would I ever...

Their food is awesome, which is why I applied to work here. They have it on their big sign out front "Hiring Crew Managers" so I applied, I have the necessary experience, and really wanted the job. I never received a call when I filled out my application, about a week went by, so I called to check on it, the gentlemen I spoke to got me in for an interview, I felt the interview went well, he told me he would have the DM call me the next day, great. So I waited... no calls. I let 2 more days go by and nothing so I call again, I got a woman this time who informed me they don't have managers and don't have a GM so that's why I'm not getting a call but they really need the help so she would have the DM call me. I said okay, and now another few days has past and still have not heard a word from anyone. I just don't understand how they can say they need help that bad, have a store with no GM, and they won't even call someone back who clearly wants the job with outstanding experience. I'm just a mother who's out here needing a job, trying to stay vigilant because thats what you do when you need a job and want a job and believe you would be a good fit. However, I guess they just don't really need the help they are claiming to need. Super disheartening. I hope they find the help they need, it seems like the store has...
