Mayborn Science Theater — Attraction in Texas

I noticed some hateful and mean reviews on here and it completely shocks me. My family LOVES this place. I love that my kids would rather go here than to a movie theater. I got the groupon family membership for 50.00 and think that it's well worth it. The laser shows are still free to members, she was wrong on that. There are discounted tickets to special events. I even got discounted tickets to geek fest with it. The schedule is listed right on their website so there should be no reason for anyone's time to be "wasted". If going to their website is an issue they do have a phone number, maybe instead of just showing up and being pissed that no show is playing call first ? Phones are good like that. Also why get a membership and then complain about their scheduling? Research what you're buying first and you won't have an issue. Look at their schedule and you'll see that shows are normally only on weekends and that they play the same things throughout each month. The membership also gets you free or discounted access to planetariums, museums, and aquariums. I don't see how it isn't worth it. I love that my kids are learning to love science, history, and nature and are getting excited about it.

The staff are always really friendly. Where she got off saying they were rude is beyond me but judging by her review I can kind of understand if someone getting defensive with her. The theater always smells like it was freshly cleaned, it has a smell of fresh cleaners every time we go but with people (especially kids) coming through often I can imagine that it's hard to keep it like that 24/7, every theater, every store, every business (especially those that entertain children!) deal with these issues occasionally. It's definitely not the norm.

I've never written like this defending a place, I have complained about places quite a few times. I really love this place. We've been going regularly for about a year and it bugs me to hear anyone talk down on it. We've never had a bad experience and have always been treated well. It's one of the only decent things to do in this otherwise...

So where to start, the theater smells of urine and feet, not slightly but horribly bad, the oder is so strong i cannot believe they haven't done something about it already. I understand you get school field trips but do you not clean up after the kids have left? When was the last time the seat upholstery and carpets were cleaned or even changed out? My kids love the shows, when they have shows, we just went in and found the staff member who claimed he wasn't on the clock was napping, stated that Friday night laser shows were discontinued and was very condescending while "explaining" he wasn't on the clock and there was no show so we waisted our time. We did get the membership so we could enjoy the perks of it and with the idea in mind that the amount of times we come here it pays for itself. But in the end it's pointless because we only came to the Friday night shows and now the only ones available are the special event ones and those we would still have to pay half of the price. Yeah there are other perks like museums and the likes of such but we would have to travel to do those and the only reason we got the membership was, like I said for the Friday night shows. Clean the floors and the chairs, update the website and put up signs that are explaining the changes at the front desk, and hire staff that isn't so rude. Why did you discontinue Friday night shows? In the end I feel we have been cheated out of the money we paid for this pointless membership since even though we paid a good amount of money we would still have to pay extra to see the Friday laser light shows you now only show as special events...... Pointless waste of our...

My children and I were disappointed. The show that we went to was extremely boring.

The Nanocam show was like some high-schoolers or freshman in college needed to come up with this video for a school project in order to pass their science class for their final grade. Not worth the time or gas to sit and watch. Nothing but CGI.

I don't think it's your eyes needing to adjust from dark to light again. I believe it's the roller coster skit at the end with a lady that cannot sing. It was so offensive to the senses.

Honestly some more up dated shows would be ideal. I understand it's educational and all but something that doesn't just cater to kids every now and then would be good too. I'm not talking about the lazer shows either. As a homeschool mom this is my...
