Friday, September 18, 2020 at 7:40 pm, my daughter and I were finishing our walk in this park when received a call from her husband that the city park ranger instructed him to move oir cars immediately because he is closing the park. I told my son n law we were 20 minutes away walking distance and this side doesn't close til 8. My son n law jogged to us for keys and parked his car and my convertible on the outside of the park fence, half in grass/half on street. As I arrived to the gate, the park ranger was turning to leave from locking the gate and its 7:58 pm. I went from begging him to open the fence to angry because this meant loading my grandbaby from the stroller into the car in ONCOMING TRAFFIC. I begin recording his attitude and he says he doesn't care. I've left two messages -one with Tom Bass and the Commissioner's office. I've posted photos of us loading the baby from the street with oncoming traffic. ANYTHING could've happened: flat tire, hit by oncoming traffic...this man did NOT care. We were kind, my son n law was compliant when he had every right to wait til we made it to the car. My son n law didn't see the severe danger in his decision to move the cars upon demand until his wife and baby were on the street, trying to load into the car with oncoming traffic in pure darkness. May God, himself, deal...
Read moreTombass has always been an amazing park, full of untouched natural beauty. The trails used to be natural dirt paths, which made it so much easier and safer to walk dogs without worrying about the ground being too hot on their paws. Unfortunately, those lovely trails have now been replaced with asphalt — which can easily burn dogs’ feet and takes away from the park’s natural charm.
It’s also disappointing to see so many trees cut down and the once-popular hill by the amphitheater fenced off. That hill has long been one of the most beloved spots for people to work out and enjoy the outdoors, but now it’s blocked by a large, unattractive black fence. What was once a vibrant, welcoming place now feels uninviting.
I truly wish the city planners had considered the needs of the community — dog owners, nature lovers, and fitness enthusiasts alike — before making these changes. Parks should bring people together and preserve natural spaces, not pave them over and...
Read moreVery nice, family friendly park!! We always have a nice time here at Tom Bass no matter if we are there to jog, workout, picnic, volleyball, ride bikes, or paint. As a child, I enjoyed feeding the ducks. Its always clean, we feel safe, and it's never too crowded (unless it's a major holiday). Usually you can always find a place to set up your pit and table. I also like the volley ball and park area too for the kiddos. My daughter played here alot and she use to love rolling down the hill when she was smaller. This will always be a go-to-park for my family. It's close and convenient; especially with having another nice park right across the street. (I believe that one...
