The Ritz Theatre — Attraction in Tiffin

This is a beautiful theater. Been to a couple of musical performances but last night was our first musical play. We saw Anastasia and were amazed at the talented actors/singers. The stage is smaller than most venues but the sets and effects were great. They used every inch. This is a farther drive for us but we’ll definitely be looking to see another musical here. One suggestion would be to do something else with the will call area. Lots of people went into the theater and had to be told to go outside and they had to stand in line in the rain to wait to get tickets. Kind of confusing. Another would be to either set the orchestra a different way or not sell the seats behind the conductor. We had to move to different seats to be able to see the stage. As out-of-town visitors looking for something to do, we thought we were going to The Ritz Theater; but, upon arrival we were directed around the block to the "National" theater which was a black box performance studio. That piece was disappointing. The musical was well done by a cast of 5; except, one young man who seemed to lose his pitch to nerves and never did sing a correct note. The plus for us was being given a ticket, so at least we didn't lose a lot of money on this excursion. The subject of the play was appropriate for mental health month. The seating is very tight. It was very warm during our show, many people had to go outside to cool down. It would have been more comfortable if the temperature was controlled. Our seats were toward the back on the main floor. The ushers and concession employees who were hanging out in the lobby were very loud and disturbing. A few times their talking made it hard to heard the performance on stage.

The theater building is very nice and clean. I was happy to see they were selling drinks and snacks - the popcorn...
