Learn moreMy Hubs and I took a couple of photos over there the day he asked me if we could make our common-law marriage a fancy paper one! Lol, but seriously, there are some FANTASTIC changes being made up North, and that makes me proud! When you cross over the Kansas Ave or Topeka Blvd bridges and end up in NOTO, it will boggle the mind at the transformation that has been taking place. The people are AMAZING here. And don't let the homeless folks that frequent the shelter on the other side of the tracks scare you away - in fact I plead with our city to go and volunteer your time to help out the Topeka Rescue Mission & Hope Center, which I briefly lived at when I didn't have a home or protection to call my own. You can park at one end and walk the district. There's lots of art and antique shops to visit but a lot of them are not consistent on their hours so when they are open is often hit and miss.
On busy weekend nights there are usually performers out on the sidewalk and there's a few great public out door spaces.
This area also offers a handful of local bars/restaurants. Again, all within walking distance of each other.
The district hosts quite a few events...
