Very dissapointing. Today my wife and I decided to take our 2 little ones out for lunch. We were excited to support a local eatery. Upon walking in we were not greeted as we walked by 3 employees. We sat down and waited almost 10 minutes to be greeted and have our drink order taken. We ordered food and here is where it gets bad. I ordered a classic grilled cheese with bacon. My wife orders the mafia and our 2 kids got a grilled cheese and a preztzel. Our food was brought out except my wife did not get her meal. We had to tell our waitress she forgot a meal. After waiting for the meal to be cooked and brought to my wife my sandwich was completely cold smh. As i began to take a bite i noticed they didnt include the bacon and my sandwich only included cheddar cheese and not the pepper jack cheese that it was also supposed to have. The waiteess apologized for my wifes missing meal but instead of comping it she offered it at 50% off. Needless to say $36 for a cold grilled cheese, a missed meal and 2 kids meals We will NOT be going back. I do not recommend this...

My family stopped for lunch in North Topeka for lunch on May 13, 2022 on the way to a nephew's graduation in Salina, Kansas. We discovered The Wheel Barrel by chance. We didn't know we were in a for a great treat! We were starving. The restaurant was full inside, but luckily they had additional seating outside in the back of the restaurant, with a large awning for shade against the hot mid-May sun.

The menu was interesting and looked exotic, with every item containing cheese in it. You could order a full or a half sandwich. And you could pair a sandwich item with a soup or salad. I ordered a half sandwich containing blue cheese and roast beef and a small house salad. All the sandwiches came toasted. I like that a lot. I like sandwiches on toasted bread. The blue cheese had melted onto the roast beef, and it was delicious! The salad was ordinary, but it was good to have a "vegetable" with my meat and bread lunch. I was thoroughly pleased. The quantity was just right, and the whole meal delicious.

I thoroughly recommend The Wheel Barrel in North...

The Monte Cristo sandwich is top notch here! My friends from KCK, with whom I was having lunch, come here for it a lot. I only wish that the traditional raspberry jam had been offered with it, as it used to be, vs. grape jelly. I don't know why this switch took place on the menu, but I'm guessing the cost of one vs. the other must have become significant enough to merit it. Grape jelly was still good, just not as perfect a pairing as radpberry jam. The service was tremendously friendly, and the staff was all genuine smiles and caring comments. I tried the IPA Imperial- Abomination Toxic Earth- Extreme Matcha Edition from the drafts on tap menu. It was fantastic, and I will definitely look for it again. The Wheel Barrel, and this part of Topeka, holds a special place in my heart, along with my friends who brought me.
