I want to give it a higher rating, however the side entrance being the primary entrance to me is a big turn off. If you are ever at this location pay close attention about their "main" entrance, as typical retail experience - customers will enter from the most obvious and noticeable entrance, which in the case the "front" of the building. But in the case of this H-Mart, the main entrance is at the side, and multiple temp signs are put up to say the front entrance is an exit only.
So from a customer perspective it's weird, from a retail experience design point of view I can understand they would like people to start from produce and make their way through each section and lastly leave at checkout and maybe stay a bit at food court. But the side entrance is not obvious and because handicap ramp is at the front, ramp access is double as cart access. At least that's the way I figure, since there were no easy way to push carts without maneuvering around the h-Mart curb obstacle course...
One more thing, most of the time people enter and leave from same entrance, exit. Since it is already somewhat confusing where "main" = side entrance is. When they are about to close at 10 (meaning at 8:30) the front of building (exit only) is already closed... That is 1:30min prior to closing, it really doesn't make sense to shut that part off.
Anyways h-mart is a grocery store, so produce price are actually pretty good. Just please expect some curb obstacles and weird entrance from this particular h-mart
Note self - if I ever have to design a super market never put "main" entrance hidden visible vantage point, as it is freaking confusing (refer to h-mart Torrance location) as...
Read moreStaff was very rude. I walked in with a rolling suitcase because I’m currently on a vacation, and an employee walked over to me and simply said “no!” So I asked other employees and a teenaged girl told me she needed to check my bag. I asked her why she needed to check my bag and she backed off and said she wasn’t going to. I informed her that no, she is not going to check my bag. That’s actually illegal.
I proceed to browse the store, and I am then approached by a store employee and a security guard. The employee told me “you need to keep your bag”. I asked him what that means and he said “up front!” as if “keep your bag” has an obvious meaning. Then they both started following me, watching my every move and acted like they were on the warpath.
I shop at this same company in Koreatown all the time and they have never treated me like this. Not only did the staff not communicate effectively, they acted like their poor attempt to communicate was somehow my fault and treated me with a level of suspicion that I frankly feel insulted by.
I’m still going to shop here, but if I am ever treated like this again, I will be taking a video of the incident and posting it on multiple social media platforms.
I once worked at a job where I had customers who spoke a different language. I learned that language, so I could communicate with them. I don’t really understand why public-facing employees should be speaking single words or half-sentences, then getting ready for a showdown if someone doesn’t understand. These are working professionals in uniforms. This is how H-Mart’s brand name was represented...
Read moreHorrible customer service . WAY Over priced . The presentation of food is spectacular but everything is $2 to $4 more than other stores. Frozen foods are not all the way frozen . I bought Popsicles and it's an 8 min ride home. My bb sticks and watermelon bars were completely melted ( bb sticks take forever to melt ) . They had only one bag of those jujubees apples the bag was old and they weren't fresh but I've been craving them . So I asked if I could maybe get a discount and this older Korean woman came walking to cashier and snatched the bag and told the cashier aish ( korean sound ) whats wrong with them tell her don't buy them . Not knowing I'm half korean and can speak it fluently. I sometimes get treated badly when I'm in Korea by store owners when they think I'm a just some foreigner . I was born in Korea and I came to this country and treat everyone with respect and that woman obviously doesn't see life the same way . I answered her in korean I politely said . It's okay I'll buy them I was just asking because they look old and it's the last bag. First she made me feel like I was beneath her and she looked like she should be working at the swapmeet. 2nd she was speechless when I spoke Korean but still tossed the bag back on counter. If my son wasn't there I would've respectfully put her in her place . But it's very hot in there and we were hungry . We left and I'm never going back there again . Go to hannam chain it's close . Wasted money time and...
