This was confusing for us, so I hope this helps others. The Park is just a small beach, parking lot, sandy areas, and some tables. It however connects to the larger Refuge. If you're seeing pictures of trails and boardwalks, that's the refuge. There's a trail to the right of the lot (if you're facing the lake) that takes you essentially down the road and across the street to where the light houses, boardwalk, nature center, and more gorgeous trails are. That's where you can get a map and more info. We could not take the trail from the lot because it was flooded, so had to walk along the road with fast moving trucks. Not fun with a toddler. Alternatively, you can park at the nature center which is back on the highway and take a trail to the boardwalk and then back across the street and to the beach if you want. Read moreGreat park, easy to find, lovely beach! I spent a total of 3 hours over 2 days at this beach. It is clean, picnic tables are available on the sand, and it has lots of sand. Not many stones at all! They are doing preservation work to improve the health of the sand dunes, so some areas have a nice wooden fence around it to allow beach grass time to grow.
