Passing through the Syracuse area and stopped by this rare public octagon house. Unfortunately, the hours to view the interior are rather limited, so I only was able to take pictures of the exterior and through the first floor windows. You can still see quite a bit of the construction design, including what appear to be concrete walls on the exterior and octagonal porch posts, a nice harmonic touch. This home was built in 1856. I’m hoping octagonal homes become more popular in our hurricane and tornado zones because with fewer 90° corners, they can withstand higher wind speeds without sustaining as much damage. You were able to go on every floor from the basement all the way up to the very top where all the windows are. They have so many old relics from the 1800's. It was extremely interesting to see.
