I'm glad to see the owner reading and responding to reviews here. That, and the showroom shows he wants to make his customers happy.
I bought a new, left-over 2015 CBR500R ABS here last Friday, 4/27/2018. Traded in my 2012 Silver Wing ABS. The showroom is huge; no lack of bikes, and the used bikes get the same respect as new ones, with two full aisles of them right down the center of the store. The used bikes look like they've been gone over and really present well. I'm an Illinois customer and made the trek up here because the Illinois dealers are kind of snotty and greedy in comparison.
I found a few used bikes I liked through their ads on Cycle Trader, then went to my local dealer, to give them a chance. They had a left-over 2017 non ABS model for which they were asking the full MSRP, and wouldn't budge. (In their defense, I'm sure they'll get their asking price for it this week...) There was also $1,000 worth of fees and taxes, and they also wouldn't budge on these. They offered me the same price as Cedar Creek for my trade-in. (fair) The sales guy I worked with was a young guy (Randy, I think?) who rides a CBR600RR. Nice guy, but didn't follow through on his offer to try to get me a free T-shirt. :)
In the middle of the store, there are mini desks for 9 sales guys. Behind them are a couple desks for sales managers, who coordinate with the shop to evaluate potential trades and who do the wheeling and dealing. It's a pretty good system; everybody has their job. The sales manager who helped me was courteous and straight-forward; he didn't try to make it sound like my trade was a piece of junk; just presented it as it is: A couple of minor scrapes and it needs tires, so they came down a bit compared to the ballpark estimate I got by phone.
I froze my butt off on the way up; it's 10° cooler here than in Chicago, so be dressed for that if you ride up. Their accessories department is excellent; they have a fine selection of helmets; not just white and black. Decent selection of jackets, pants and everything you would look for. Several different brands: HJC, Shoei and some others. I picked up a set of Tourmaster riding pants, to make the ride home bearable. Full price on those, (they wouldn't budge, even though I was buying a motorcycle) but good quality and a very helpful and knowledgeable sales guy. For reference, it's about an hour and a half drive up from the north suburbs of Chicago, with light traffic except for the never-ending interstate construction that the Milwaukee area has. (though I have to admit, it's better than neglecting the roads, like IL does!)
My one complaint is that when it was time to finalize the paperwork and actually pay, I had to wait and wait and wait, at LEAST 40 minutes. There was only one guy doing that, and he was working with another customer who seemed to be a talker. Dammit, I was going to miss my daughter's party! I got Randy and pleaded for him to get me someone else to do this, or I'd have to leave on my old bike. He got another manager, Chad I think, who got me through it quickly. I wound up only being 25 minutes late to my daughter's party. :( In their defense, they were busy for a Friday morning, but they've got to figure out a way to get the sale finalized quicker. Keep both of those final sales offices manned and if there are no sales, I'm sure they can be doing something else around the place to help out.
Edit May 2, 2018: Thanks to the owner for the response. You may have just earned a repeat customer, despite being 80 miles away. I'm in the market for some riding shoes and summer...
Read moreWe were able to purchase a new Seadoo personal water craft here in 2020 when inventory in the state was low. It is a great machine and we have had a blast. The service however has been disappointing from day one. Despite being 2 hours from home we bought the priority service plan as wanted to continue to support them. Bad choice. We were NEVER a priority. We would call to schedule a service and specifically ask if we could have it done the same day seeing we had such a long drive. We were told yes, then when we got there they said there was no way that they could do that and we would have to leave it and come back another day. Last spring when we were having them ready it for the season we asked that they adjust the steering as it was off. When we had to go BACK to pick it up, they "forgot" about the steering so we had to set up a completely separate appointment several weeks later to have it fixed. This fall we took it in to be winterized. When we went back to pick it up, they sent it home (2 hours) without the battery. We were told we could pick it up in the spring. We decided to trade the unit in this week. They quoted us a price via email. We picked it up from storage and took it all the way over there to have the sales manager undercut the salesperson's quoted price and say that the offer was now considerably lower "due to market fluctuations". In a day??? The manager wouldn't even come talk to my husband. We picked up our battery, canceled the remainder of the service plan and hopefully we will actually get our refund in the mail. We said goodbye without looking back. Nightmare service with an unbelievable amount of time wasted. If you have no choice but to buy from them, do NOT waste your money on a "priority service" package that stinks. They get my 2 stars for a great jet ski, otherwise their service and lack of ethics would...
Read moreI took my bike here for routine, I should have done it myself, type of maintenance that was communicated to be done by the following weekend. Instead, I got three weeks of excuses, contradictions, and poor communication. First I was told it was “finished,” only to later hear they still needed to order a part. If the work was done, why did they need more parts?
When I finally got my bike back—three weeks and three days later—it was filthy. Dust, spider webs, the works. I dropped it off spotless, so there’s no excuse for it to come back in worse condition than when I left it.
On top of all this, you’re paying about 30% more than other shops just for the convenience of the location. Sadly, this shop has gone downhill as it’s gotten bigger. The service is sloppy, the communication unreliable, and the premium price is absolutely not worth it. Take your bike literally anywhere else.
Update to the "owners" response:
I was told the bike was “done pending paperwork” before anyone mentioned the replacing the chain. I later received a call expecting them to tell me I could pick it up, instead they said it needed a new chain, which I approved it within 24 hours. After that, I waited +2 weeks for it to be done. There was NOT a week of indecision; that’s on your end, not mine.
The bike was washed the day before drop-off and stored in a garage and driven 4 miles to your shop. It didn’t arrive with dust, pollen, or spider webs. If your intake photos say otherwise, POST THEM showing the layers of cake.
And the award-winning line doesn’t address the actual problem. Top-tier prices should come with top-tier communication, realistic timelines, and returning the bike in at least the condition it came in. That didn’t happen here. My...
