Customer Service at it's best! Long story short. I volunteered to shop for our VFW Auxiliary to purchase flannel shirts for our Veterans at the Syracuse VA Hospital. The St. John's Bay super soft shirts were on sale for $17.99. Bought 20 at Cortland and purchased another 8 at the Auburn store, since the sale was ending. This was 9/6 and 9/7. I was so pleased with my purchases. I turned in my receipts and got reimbursed by the Aux. Treasurer. The following Friday the 13th! I stopped in at JCP in Cortland to check on sales in the ladies dept. As I was walking out the store, I glanced over and noticed the flannel shirts were now $16.99. $1 less. $28.00 less.! I was not happy! Our Treasurer went to the Cortland store and spoke to someone about the price reduction without much success. I called on the 17th shirtly after the stored opened and spoke with Andrea. She remembered me from the purchase of the 20 shirts for our Veterans. Andrea listened as I explained how the price went down even more and I wanted the savings. She asked for the receipt info and said she would check on it for me. She called back asking for more info. And even gave me her cellphone # so I could take a pic of a document she needed. She called back and told me that she re-rang all 28 shirts up for me 22 shirts rang up as $16.99 and 6 shirts actually rang up for $14.99! The savings was a difference of $54.72. Andrea worked on this for hours making this right! There isn't much Customer Service anymore with self checkouts and bagging, etc. What I thought was going to be a hassle, turned out to be a pleasant experience, thanks to Andrea! I'm sure our Veterans will love their super soft flannel shirts as the weather...
   Read moreMost recent experience was terrific. You don't experience great customer service in retail in Cortland. Mercedes is the exception. I walked in the door and she greeted me immediately, enthusiastically and with a genuine smile! That helped make my day. She was very helpful and her wonderful customer service will help Penny's shine!
I revisited Cortland Penny's to do some Christmas shopping and again received wonderful customer service from my customer service champion, Mercedes. However, I was very disappointed to learn that she never received the gratitude expressed in my November review, and the praise that she deserved.
