I went here for the first time a couple of weeks ago. There was a man behind the counter and a lady stocking up front. I asked her for some help finding items for a recipe and ending up buying more based on suggestions she made. There’s a great selection of spices, vegetables, dairy, snacks, frozen, condiments, and other items. They had Diwali celebration items for sale also I noticed. Based on the friendliness of the lady (owner?), I would definitely recommend going there even if you aren’t familiar with the foods or culture. She made me feel very at ease and was more than happy to share her opinions of which brand would be better. I got some refrigerated roti dough which was delicious and the tamarind and other sauces for samosas which tasted so good. Don’t forget your own bags especially if you plan to buy a lot. Check it out if you like to dabble in South Asian cooking. Plenty of variety for...
Read moreHad to visit this store all the way from Ithaca. The range of items they provide is astonishing. Everything an Indian could miss in the US is present in atleast one form. Ranging from an enormous variety of pickles to sweets, I could find everything I had on my list. The shop also has a good quantity of fresh vegetables which we eat quite regularly in India, but are hard to find even in most of the Farmer markets in the US. However, the only negative I felt was that the store was over crowded, not with people, but with the items they had. It seemed they had too less a space for the huge number of products they offered. Also, I would recommend checking the expiration date before buying any perishables, since I could find atleast a couple of items with best before date passed once I reached...
Read moreA veritable Rip-off, on prices that elevates "Gouging" to new heights! As with most Indian stores outside major cities, prices are not just 3 to 5 times higher, but the only items that are "reasonably" marked down are food products that have Expiration (not "best by!) dates upto 18 months past! These ethnic stores are another example of the India-based pharmaceutical companies that sell deadly products in major US outlets such as CVS and Walmart. Just google many Rx meds' companies and behold how many are found by the FDA to be manufactured in "hazardous" and "contaminated" environments-- with many also "Recalled" for causing blindness, and fatalities,...
