This place is just beautiful. And it's a shame that a beautiful little train station in a bustling town has to be a museum because nobody wants to take the train anymore.. however it is on the empire State trail and you can literally walk 10 ft to it from the trail. It is a wonderful place to break up a day ride and spend an hour or two their learning about what it used to be like. We need to unplug once in awhile and actually encounter places like this where we can touch, see and smell experiences. I made a donation to the museum and I would only hope that every single person that finds this gem will do the same because when things like this are gone everybody feels sad and complains so give them a few bucks to keep them going because once it leaves it's not coming back..

Remarkable museum about locomotives and the area's industrial history, located at what had been a railroad station. There are artifacts of locomotives and the area's trades (like the implements used for harvesting ice from the nearby rivers). There is a sheltered picnic area, and a rest room nearby two vending machines. Commemorative plaques and inscribed benches acknowledge the museum's supporters. Next to the museum passes the Dutchess Rail Trail, which is paved at this stretch. Nearby is the Whortlekill firing range, so do not be alarmed if you hear shots in the vicinity.

Such a great place to visit if you love trains & history. A small museum but packed full of interesting memorabilia. Definitely worth visiting. Conveniently located on the Dutchess Rail Trail. Nice day trip, visit museum, walk the rail trail & then go to Daddy O's Restaurant, also on the rail trail, for a bite to eat.

It's a Fabulous Historical Train Station to Visit! Lots of History to learn about the Hay Days of few Railroads that Stop at the Junction. Such as New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad and the Lehigh & New England. Now, There are Trails that you can Walk & take your bicycle on, in which is very Relaxing. Although there's no Railroad movement of any kind! So, if you Into Watching Trains or photographing, or Videoing it. You're Fresh out of...
