Southern Tier Marina — Attraction in Town of Ellicott

Bernie seems like a good guy overall but definitely lacks some level of follow through and needs to better maintain his boats. We showed up to get our original boat and it wasn’t ready. He did provide us a nicer boat to use while our was getting fixed, however that nicer boat broke down in the middle of the lake within a day. We had to get our own tow back to his marina then wait around a whole afternoon for a replacement because they gave our original boat to another renter. We were promised a refund for our time without the boat and never received it. We did finally get another boat which worked okay but definitely had maintenance issues as well. When we reported these issues we were told to put everyone in the back of the boat to help solve the problem. The owner tried to blame us for all the boat issues, even though we are experienced boaters, until he had the mechanic check it out. We have been renting boats in Chautauqua for many years and always use one of the larger marinas in Chautauqua. This year we reached out to Bernie and Kelley at Boatworks and they were awesome. We will use them from now on. Bernie and Kelley were so accommodating, kind, and flexible with our changing plans due to weather. The boats are in like-new condition and make for a great day of tubing, floating, or cruising. Whatever you need, they've got you covered. What an amazing experience. First of all, the owner is hilarious 😂 duck is a great guy also. The little gas station to the left of the marina is also full of great people. All around had such a great time. For your next boat rental, definitely stop in to Bernie’s Boatworks. They were accommodating to time, helping us launch the boat and parking it on our way back. 10/10 recommend. The rates are affordable for a rental. We’ll be stopping back in! Thanks guys!
