We stayed here over the weekend for vacation. It has beautiful grounds with lots of outside seating, covered and uncovered, and over the water, and fire pits by the water. They even have a little putting green back there. There was plenty of free parking (although both nights there was an event held in the hotel banquet room so parking lot was pretty full but there was still parking available). The Carousel bar was not open at the end of April so there weren't a lot of people back there. Would have been nice to get a stone fired pizza from it, but no food was available until May (the inside restaurant was open but we didn't eat at it). We did visit the inside bar two nights and Derek the bartender, was great. Limited selection so can't make a lot of cocktails, but there is certainly something for everyone available.
The guy working the front desk at Friday afternoon check in was very welcoming and friendly. We encountered him another time and he was great then too. The girl at the front desk that checked us out was also great and thanked us for our stay. The rooms were clean and well appointed. The balcony door was nice to open up.
The only issues with the room were the beds. They are super firm mattress so they are so hard to sleep on. We got no sleep and had to keep getting up to sit on the sofa during the night because our back and hips hurt so badly. I know some people like a firm mattress that is like sleeping on the floor, but I just don't get it!. The other issue is the air condition system. We had to drop it to 65-66 degrees to keep the room to what felt like the 72 degrees I keep in my house on. Maybe it just needs some coolant?
The housekeeping staff did a great job of cleaning and providing all items and services needed. They even turn down the beds at night, put chocolates on the pillows, and have music playing for when you return for the night. We passed several cleaning staff in the halls and they were all very friendly.
The area the hotel is in does leave a lot to be desired. A lot of dilapidated homes, boarded up, and trash around. Jamestown is only a few minutes away and is the town area for shopping needs and restaurants. At the end of April nothing is open at the resort or the marina so there is nothing to do but sit and relax (indoor pool and fitness room are open). It rained most of our visit so not a lot of time sitting outside enjoying...
Read moreThis is an amazing hotel. It's far exceeded my expectations in every aspect. It's just a short drive or walk from town yet sits nestled right along Lake Chatauqua. The views are absolutely stunning with multiple large fire pits going every night. There's plenty of outdoor seating and nooks that overlook the lake. It's quiet enough to hear the seagulls if you leave your balcony door open because it's located in a quiet part of town. And it's huge. It has one of the biggest gyms we've ever seen for a hotel. Two pools, one indoor and one out. A hot tub. A restaurant. You name it, this place seems to have it.
The whole hotel is beautiful. It has a rustic look to it that follows into each room. We've been in two rooms now and they've both been stunning. The showers are to die for. They're huge walk in showers.
My only initial complaint was that upon sitting on the beds, they feel very firm but after sleeping on it, I got a goods night rest and it was surprisingly comfortable. I would not have guessed it was going to be as comfortable as it was after sitting on it. And they offer you pillows galore! Not the standard 4 you usually get. You get at least 6 different pillows, a smaller body pillow and then an even smaller pillow, perfect for placing in between you legs or arms while you sleep. The rooms are silent, too. You never hear your neighbors or people outside, and we didn't even realize it was pouring rain outside!
Our first room had a problem with the air conditioner and Vanessa at the front desk bent over backwards for us and Jamey from maintenance went well above what he ever needed to do to help us. They were both phenomenal and went way out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and everything was alright. Those two, alone, could have made this experience a 5 star review. If you get a chance to talk to either of them, do it. They're amazing people who you can truly tell love their jobs. And when you have people that friendly and kind at work at 6 am, you know this has to be a good place because it obviously treats it's employees well, too.
We will definitely be coming back here time and time again. It's a romantic place and the...
Read moreMy husband, sister and brother in law and myself went to Chautauqua Harbor Hotel for the Murder Mystery Event that they hosted this weekend. We were all absolutely pleased with everything. The hotel staff was very friendly. They all smiled, took the time to chat with us and made us feel comfortable. For me, in particular, this hotel went above and beyond. I have Celiac's disease. When I reached out to the hotel to let them know and ask if there was any way they could accommodate me, I honestly expected back a response that was an apologetic no, or possibly that they would try to see what they could do. What I got was incredible. The staff emailed me that they let everyone know of my situation and then it got better! Anna, the chef manager, met with me when I arrived. She went over the menu with me and informed me that the staff had discussed what to do to best ensure my safety. They decided to make me special plates of food for every meal, this included multiple desserts and snack plates. They did something for me that, to this point in my life since I was diagnosed with Celiac's disease, I have never had anyone do. The effort that they took for me was indescribable. On top of that though, this hotel is beautiful! It is located right on the lake and the views from all of the windows around the hotel and even in our room were gorgeous, even on a weekend with rainy, windy weather. The hotel was clean and had beautiful homey features, like the wood on the walls. I love that coffee and tea service is out on every level of the hotel in the morning. That was super convenient! The restaurant and bar are really nice and the bartendar that we dealt with both nights was amazing! Shout out to you, Derek! We miss you already, man! We absolutely will be back, not only for the next murder mystery event but we also plan of coming back to this fantastic hotel with it's beautiful views and incredible staff soon just because we had such a wonderful time. Thank you, Chautauqua Harbor Hotel, for making our little weekend getaway so...
