Nice independent venue with a serious problem. Compared to the big guns in the area ( AMC, Showcase, Regal) Bellmore playhouse packs a punch both for wallet savings and movie viewing comfort. At just over $10 for prime time viewing the theatre is a bargain compared to those competitors in today's climate ( others at $15 a pop or MORE!) considering the similarities with some downgrades as a result Reclinable seats these are often seen at most theaters res except for the ones that have not been renovated since movie chains started the transition in the mid 2000s . Bellmore's are not as comfy, spacious, or have some of the bells and whistles ( heated and cooling seats) but they do provide the basic comforts a reclinable provides The screens for viewing are smaller here and definitely look elsewhere if the best viewing experience possible is what you seek The concessions were standard fare however the popcorn was much saltier than I am accustomed to. It was fine for the first couple handfuls but I began to wonder if this was intentionally trying to have me leave and purchase another beverage as Bellmore does not have self serving machines like AMC No bar ( looking for alcohol?) look elsewhere I feel for the janitorial staff in this place. It was trashed after my showing. Heck it was messy and sticky when I sat down. I only saw 1 maybe 2 people come to clean so hey maybe its just they dont clean It was like a jungle in there with teenagers talking loudly, texting, and coming in and out frequently. They eventually were thrown out ( almost 20 kids) 3/4ths thru the movie. I've never had an experience like that before even in a packed theatre like mine was that simply ruined the experience for me . Did I enjoy supporting the local guy and saving a few bucks? YES. Will I become a regular? NO. Come during an empty time or for an older movie but stick to the big guns for new...
Read moreThe whole theatre right as you enter has an especially unkempt look to it. Floors had too much popcorn remains, more than you would expect. These were just my first impressions, so I gave them a benefit of the doubt because their staff was very helpful (well initially they were but I'll touch on that in a bit).
I got my tickets with my friends and we walked into our theatre. And it hit me. The smell of eagle piss. It's as though they make no attempt to clean the theatre. The low ceiling made me feel claustrophobic. To add to that, the lights were on at full during the previews and only just turned off before the movie actually started. I was trying to find some place to sit comfortably, but the lights were all too distracting and bright I was shielding my eyes like I was outside on a sunny day.
Another great annoyance was my seat's cupholders. They couldn't hold my own drink because the drink was too big for the cup holder - and this was a drink the theatre provided, mind you! My snacks couldn't fit in the cup holder either because there was a huge hole on the bottom of the cup holder for it to fall through. So those were put on the dirty floor or between my legs. This is a minor detail, but you never really consider how much of a hassle it is to have such poorly designed cup holders, not that you should have to worry about it.
When our movie started, there were certain heights during it that were so loud I had to cover my ears. I was forced to ask at the counter but nothing was done. I was nearly tempted to ask for a refund but I truly wanted to get out as soon as I could and take a shower.
So was it really that bad? As nice as the staff was, the theatre was not kempt, the sound was literally painful at times, poor management. Bellmore Playhouse simply doesn't meet my standards but that's just me. I rarely go out to theatres and this wasn't a...
Read moreWOW! I do not even know where to start with this review........I was just at this establishment for my daughters Girl Scout event to see the Troll movie. I have never seen anything so unorganized in my life! After waiting over an hour for the movie to begin, people still did not have their popcorn and beverage. They even paused the movie so everyone could get their food! Really!? You have 300 children in the theater who have been waiting over an hour for the movie to begin. THEN they play the movie for 5 minutes when it was decided to pause the movie for 20 more minutes! Parents were standing on a line for at least a half hour waiting for popcorn to get popped and beverages to be served. Next note.....the bathrooms!!! They were absolutely disgusting! Toilet paper was everywhere sticking to peoples shoes, no hand soap, no paper towels, garbage overflowing, smelled like it hasn't been cleaned or disinfected ever! That is just an absolute disgrace, aside from assuming that employees must use the same facility so they aren't washing their hands and ARE HANDLING FOOD AND DRINKS! YOU SHOULD BE EMBARRASSED! THANK YOU RUINING A FUN GIRL SCOUT EVENT! I am 100% positive that I will not be the only parent complaining about this "clown" show! Oh and GREAT MANAGER YOU HAVE THERE! I ALONG WITH MY ENTIRE TROOP WILL NEVER RETURN TO THIS ESTABLISHMENT. I COULDN'T WAIT TO GET THE HECK OUT OF THERE AND DISINFECT MYSELF AND MY DAUGHTER! VERY, VERY SAD...........
PS THE ONLY REASON I GAVE ONE STAR IS BECAUSE I HAD TO. THIS WAS THE ONLY WAY TO EVEN POST THIS REVIEW! THIS ESTABLISHMENT DESERVES...
