Komo — Restaurant in Town of Hempstead

This was my second time trying this place and my recommendation is to stick with the sushi chef.

Anything you order from the sushi chef is solid and you will be extremely disappointed if you order anything from the chef(s) in the kitchen.

The last visit we ordered take out. I ordered the two roll combo and they were made with great proportion of fish to rice ratio. The rolls were tasty and fresh.

My husband ordered a pineapple fried rice from the kitchen and boy did he regret it. It literally looked like white rice mixed with ketchup and pineapples were added. Not only did it lack wok heat, the dish was so sweet that it was inedible. It almost seemed like the chef never had pineapple fried rice before and created the dish with main ingredients on a whim. My husband forced himself to take a few more bites and he came across a hard piece and immediately took it out. The piece turned out to be an un-dissolved rock sugar!!!

DONT EAT HERE. I've been a regular here since they opened. At first I loved it, but it has steadily gotten worse. Tonight was the last night I'll ever eat there. Got an eel avocado roll and a peanut avocado roll. The avocado was very cold, like it was in the fridge. The rolls barely had any rice on them, and the little rice there was was smooshed into a jelly. Here's the worst of it. I'm sitting there chewing on the eel, each bite I'm getting more and more grossed out. Finally I bite into something HARD. I spit it out, and couldn't even figure out what it was. It was definitely part of the eel, but I don't know and it was disgusting. To top it all off, I look at the napkin that I hadn't used and there was some mushed up food in it. They've really phoned it in...

The atmosphere is not bad but the waiter got our order wrong. We weren’t going to speak up and get an entire different meal as she had already plated the sashimi. It would’ve been a waste. We gave the waiter the benefit of the doubt but once we ate the sushi and sashimi for 2 ALTHOUGH we SPECIFICALLY said SUSHI PLATTER FOR 2 the tuna wasn’t good at all. I wasn’t willing to try the rest as I nearly gagged eating that one piece of sashimi. I’ve had way better sashimi that I wouldn’t gag for. I hope the experience our group had no one else does as this was our first time trying this place. Wouldn’t go back. I hope the best for the new customers.
