I have been a Costco member for over 15 years, Iâll start with that. Yesterday, 4/18/2023 I had an unpleasant experience while on line for the self checkout. A Costco associate came up to me and asked to see my membership card. I hadnât reached the self checkout yet so I thought this was odd and I answered âNoâ. He asked, I said no. That shouldâve been the end of it. The Costco associate then stepped in front of my cart thus blocking me. At this point, I was very unhappy and uncomfortable with these actions towards me. I reinforced my answer that I would not show my card as I know my membership dues were current and my account valid as I just gassed up my car several minutes before. The associate walked away and the. I moved up the checkout line and arrived at the self checkout register just as the associate met me there with a large African American associate who asked to see my card. Feeling intimidated, he asked me to see my card and since I was at the point where I had to scan the card at the register, I briefly showed it to him much against my wishes. He saw the card and my picture and walked away, no explanation, no thank youâŚ.nothing. This is not the type of service and friendly interaction I always had at Costco. During checkout, apparently 1 item didnât scan and the register announced that an item had to be returned to the scanned item tray but neither of those associates was concerned about that and of course that item did not scan and was notified at the store exit where the associate was super friendly and escorted me to the customer service desk, I paid for the item and left. Please note: I showed my card at the entrance of the store, I show my card at the cashier register, or scan it at the self checkout, my account is valid, paid in full, my Costco membership card is also my Costco credit card. In todayâs world, certain things demand a heightened level of security, I donât want to show my credit card to a stranger even if they have a nice red vest with a name tag. I purposely chose not to name the 2 associates who made this trip to Costco unpleasant as it is not my intention to get anyone in trouble. Only Costco in area that has gasoline. The gasoline prices are always at least $0.15-0.20 below regular gas stations. Also don't have to use their credit card to get an extra $.10 discount like you do at BJ's, and the price at Costco will still be the same or better than BJ's. But if you do have a Costco credit card that you use, you will get 4% back on gas rather than the traditional 2%. This store is immaculately clean. For right now the store is never crowded, even on the weekends. I'll update when I see that changing. Always excellent customer service and quality of merchandise and food. They also have optical, hearing aid, pharmacy, & food court services. I've used their optical & been very happy with the service and prices. The pharmacy also has better prices if you don't have insurance for that. The tire service center is also a good deal if they have tires you like. You get FREE rotations for the life of the tire. They will also put nitrogen in the tires in the winter for FREE if you want it. I've also used their auto buying program. It saves you the trouble of haggling with the dealer because Costco has already negotiated a price on every car which is about equivalent to what Consumers Report would tell you is a fair price. They try to get dealerships as close as possible to each Costco, but sometimes they can't. That may be the only drawback depending on the vehicle. But you only have to buy the vehicle there. I have been a member for over 30 years & I'm sure I'll remain one for the rest of my life. Happy Shopping.    Read moreSome of the employees at this store are very rude. I had 2 encounters to attest to this. Yesterday I sent my daughter to do a return and exchange 2 items I purchased. When they scanned the card her picture did not come up and the person at the door was very rude. She stated in a rude tone, "you can't just show up here and expect to come in". My daughter is very quiet and reserved so I know she did not do anything to deserve this type of answer. I went to the store the next day and made a complaint to a supervisor who was very apologetic and promised to investigate. In the process of doing this I told the supervisor that I was here to exchange the same items that my daughter was not allowed to return the previous day. The supervisor took me to the customers' service desk, where I was told to leave the items, get the new sizes and return with them. On my way out with the new items, I had to pass a cashier who I explained the situation to. She was very rude and nasty (sorry I did not get her name). The supervisor came over and I explained to her the situation and told her I was just following the instructions of another supervisor. I think at this point she was trying to call me a liar or maybe she made a mistake but she said, "I am the only supervisor on duty in the store today". Of course this was a lie because the employee who lead me in the store identified himself as a supervisor and also he told me if I had any problems to ask for another supervisor name Kyle which was not her. Clearly there were more supervisors on duty which was far from what she said. Unfortunately I did not remember his name.
