While walking the path, I saw two dead cats stuck in the fencing at the waterline. Another orange cat which appeared to be shot in the head at the end of the footpath. Dead ducks, dead seagulls, dangerous debris and assorted decaying carcasses were strewn about. The osprey nests which were in the stadium lights were discarded when they changed the lighting. Thousands of parrots used to live in other stadium lights, sadly the birds and their nests are also gone. The park seems to be managed by rude teenagers who are more interested in texting on their phones than maintaining the park. People drive on the sidewalks, oblivious to pedestrians. If you're looking for a park to walk through and enjoy wildlife, go to the north shore, like port Washington. There they are diligent about the upkeep, appearance of their facilities and they care about the wildlife there. The county and the town seem to have given up on north woodmere park. Update: 5/17/24 Mauricio, supervisor of maintenance, launched rocks at us with the same force as a shotgun while he was operating a mower with no safety guards. They cut large pieces out of the bench we were sitting at, near my husband's head. We confronted Mauricio and explained that he could have killed us. He laughed at us and said it was OUR problem not his, he was just doing his job. I think that nassau county needs to reassess their safety standards and have their employees go through osha safety courses and proper training on how to inspect equipment before taking out of the barn. When we complained at the office, we found that children were left in charge and no supervisor or manager was on the premises. Our county executive, Bruce Blakeman, needs to look at the county parks and see what can be done to make them safer for both the wildlife and the taxpayers who go...
Read more"North Woodmere Park is a hidden gem! My family and I absolutely love spending time here. The Olympic-sized pool is a highlight, and the water slides are a thrill for both kids and adults. But that's not all - the park also features tennis courts, baseball diamonds, and so much more!
The baseball diamonds are well-maintained and perfect for a game of catch or a local league match. We've spent many afternoons cheering on our favorite teams and making memories with family and friends.
But what really stands out is the park's atmosphere. There's always a cool breeze, and the views of planes landing at the nearby airport are fascinating. It's the perfect spot to relax and enjoy quality time with loved ones.
We've had countless picnics, played games, and even made new friends here. The park's energy is lively yet laid-back, making it an ideal destination for families and friends seeking an unforgettable experience.
Overall, North Woodmere Park gets a resounding 5 stars from us! If you haven't visited yet, pack a picnic and head over - you...

Our visit at this swimming pool, was such an awful experience we were greeted fine by the staff just to enter the slide and be scolded by a “lifeguard” who she made apparent is also a gym teacher that my parents were not wearing the right attire for the pool. Which is fine if there was a sign or if we were told at the entrance not next to the pool when you already passed the payment section and bathrooms. When we went to ask for perhaps a refund from the staff in the front they told us “they took a lot of the signs down but it is a requirement and you need to speak to the manager who is in the office”. I go into the office and a lady immediately try’s to lecture me that all County parks require swim suits and that it’s “common sense “ and I should be able to put 2 and 2 together. I didn’t even try to be accommodating just wanted to get nasty. Worst experience would not come here again. Also there are other pool in Suffolk county were you are allowed to go into the pool with whatever...
