This place is a little gem! I expect most people only visit the pond at the lower/southern end of the preserve, but there are lots of trails winding through the area. The pond usually has an assortment of waterfowl (especially geese) and is a good place to see herons and terns fishing. If you stand on the shore quietly you'll be able to see lots of pupfish playing in the shallow water. The farther upstream you go, the narrower and thicker the trails get, so I don't expect they get many visitors, but it is still a very nice property to explore. Read moreI always love visiting tackapausha, especially in the springtime when the flowers start blooming and the animals have their babies. The preserve has a very nice trail you can walk, which branches off into a few different spots, most that stay on the same path or make the path shorter. The preserve is taken care of, however other visitors definitely make a mess of the place. It saddens me to see local kids and adults leaving beer cans, bottles, and other assorted trash in the preserve. Read moreMy daughter and I had a great time at Tackapusha's "Predators of the Sky" program. The staff were great, the presentation was fun and my daughter got to touch and hold some beautiful birds.
We enjoyed rest of the preserve as we were waiting for out program to start. We got to see an Arctic Fox and a Fennec Fox, both personal favorites, and my daughter got to discuss her prospective herpetology career.
