Any authority I might claim to knowledge of authenticity (of the feeling of being included in the ambience of an original (now vintage) train car, is spurious. My wish in this review, however, is to present a candid assessment of the Historic Village Diner with special reference to the 5 star rating I bestowed on the atmosphere afforded to the patrons of this eldritch eatery for it is a truism in my life that the edible fare has sat low—insofar as I comprehend the semiotics of totem poles—on the totem pole. I had a very special time here, once, with a very special person. As complicated feedback loops began to communicate an acute sense of our bodies literally dissolving, we confronted the possibility that we would need to read the menu and delegate the preparation of particular items therein described. The food arrived, was dispatched, and somewhere in there the check flutttttterrrrredddd down like the maiden leaf of autumn. Of all the objects and information on display throughout the diner, the bill was the least afflicted with nostalgia for it was determinedly unruly in its evident access to inflation. I won’t label it ‘high’ but merely, say, an impressive and inarguable rebuttal to one’s internalized assumptions as to the value of those victuals. It was the one seeming anachronism in this place otherwise so encysted and preserved from another era. The food was pure diner, recipes as old as the short order method itself and though I might never again return here, I would ask of the reader that they ask themselves if they would risk feeling the sensations that I and my special companion experienced in the presence of an imperfect simulacrum.

So my husband and I stopped at the Historic Village diner for breakfast on 9/10/2022. Upon entry into the diner we were great immediately be a young lady name Piper she was the host she let me know that she just needed to wipe down a table. I could see it was a very busy morning. I took our waitress a bit to come over. When our waitress came over it was very rushed. I order two eggs with corned beef hash and eggs and homefries the homefries have onions have onions. When I asked if I could have the homefries without onions the waitress basically said it would be to much trouble to do it without homefries. I found my waitress Barbara to be a little bit snooty. While sitting in the diner I found it to very clean and charming with a lot of history. When our food came Barbara placed our food on the table and ran. Not one time did our waitress come back to check on us and see how everything was. The food was amazing. While I was waiting for out food I noticed how hard the other memembers of the wait staff were working. Piper and Blythe are super stars they were on point. Blythe came by to see if we needed coffee. Not only did Blythe handle her own tables. But she also was running food out to Barbara tables as well. I am not sure if Barbara can handle being a waitress. Blythe and Piper and the rest of the staff are a 5 star. Barbara is the reason for a 4 star. Would I go back absolutely. The food was awesome. I want to thank Blythe for bring me and my husband more coffee. Remember have fun with what your doing and keep it real , because you know I do The Real Deal 12401

Delicious and simple diner food done right. There aren't many restaurants in the area and when you find a restaurant you have to make sure you go in to grab seats fast. The historic village diner looks like your average diner on the outside but once you step inside and try the food, it puts other diners to shame. First of all the portion sizes are humongous, the way things should be. Second the food tastes great, we came in as a group of 13 and all of food was cooked perfectly. I ordered the Lock Horn special and it was delicious, the roast beef was piled so high I had to take 2 bites to get everything. Also I chose to pair it with sweet potato fries which came with the petal sauce, delicious stuff. This is a great place to eat after a day of kayaking/hiking/driving or just if you're passing by.

Ordered a bacon egg and cheese salt pepper extra ketchup on a wrap as well as a sausage bacon and cheese on a bagel and ended up paying $21.79 which would have been ok if the wrap wasn't smaller than the bagel. To be honest the place is so crammed up n tight theres hardly any room to walk. I hate giving bad reviews but i just wasn't happy with this interaction or transaction.
