Unfortunately have to write this review as have usually had a lovely experience at Flatiron. Last night arrived at 8:15 and was seated. We were waiting for two others to arrive but ordered drinks and an appetizer while waiting. Our friends arrived at 8:35, seated and settled into look at the menu. As the waiter returned and we were going to give our order, he informed us that the kitchen and bar are now closed. Stunned given there were people at the bar and eating their meals, we asked why. He said maybe because we're not busy. We asked if the manager/owner could explain as they should have told us it was last orders if closing teh kitchen early. The waiter returned saying they were just closed. Finally the owner came over and said he was busy talking with friends and that he decided to close early and we can go. Not sure what is going on for a restaurant owner to ignore customers, close early in their face with no rationale or warning, even the waiter didn't know until we put in an order. The restaurant is open usually to 9pm on a Thursday. Upon leaving the owner was back behind the bar chatting with his friends who i guess are more important than other customers. I gave one last request to why he would treat customers this way and expect them to return. He said he didn't care. Maybe it's a bad night for him for some reason. But it's not a way to keep locals supporting your restaurant. Again, we've had lovely service from Jessica who wasnt there last night. maybe something is wrong and it's an aberration but it's hard to see ever returning. Read moreOur first trip to FlatIron was Saturday August 29. Wait was perfectly reasonable. Service was excellent, food immaculate. Perfect 5 out of 5! So I took my wife out for date night yesterday September 4th. Waiter was very kind and gracious. However, after making our order it took an hour an 40 min until I finally asked if they were close or if we'd have to leave... Our waiter apologized and told us the kitchen was getting bombarded with to go orders and they were working those first and then the diners. I don't agree with that policy, but by that point it was too late to go somewhere else. Then dinner came. Unfortunately my wife's was so over salted it was not edible. We split mine but it was "ok". We informed our waiter that we wanted to leave. As an apology they did not charge us for the meal. It was very good and gracious of them. Customer service is first rate. So it's great or sub par. Read moreFlatiron catered my husband’s 50th birthday party yesterday for 40 people and did an AMAZING job. We have been going to eat there for years, but I did not know they catered. First of all, Craig and Jessica are very nice, and don’t you want to support nice people? Who wants to work with jerks? They had a wide menu to choose hors d’oeuvres, standing stations, mains, and sides. The food was delicious. Esp. the lamb meatballs and crab cakes hors d’oeuvres, the mushroom and potato gratin, the NY strip, and the pork skirt steaks. They made a chocolate cake with peanut butter ganache per request. We had 2 signature cocktails which were great, one with gin and one with local applejack We had a sparkling rosé, a white, and a red wine- Wine is my passion, and I am very picky and Jessica made great choices.
