Went for the second time tonight to YUMYUM in Red Hook. The first time we went was when they first opened and I thought the service couldn’t get any worse but low and behold I was wrong.
Walked in tonight, 1 girl working. Took about three full minutes to be acknowledged. She finally told us to sit anywhere so we did. Another 7-8 mins to get a menu. She came back to take our order after another 10 mins or so. When she came back she said “were short staffed I’m here all alone” In my opinion, 4 tables isnt alot to get zero acknowledgement. (which is the same excuse we heard last time) She took our orders, never asked if we wanted drinks. App came out in a timely fashion but we had no utensils or napkins so I got up both times to get them myself. She was standing right in front of me at bar when I grabbed them both times and she never acknowledged me or said anything. We never saw her again for rest of meal. The bus boy dropped the food on our table. There were four tables total eating, us included. I would think if you’re that short staffed and to have service this bad the place would be packed but it wasn’t. Why wasn’t a manger there to help if “there was a schedule mix up”?? The phone was ringing non stop, neither her or the bus boy picked it up so it just continued to ring in our ears which was super annoying. The waitress was however one her cell phone 2x throughout our one hour visit (clearly talking in front of everyone seated) Should have stayed home. Def won’t be giving this restaurant a third chance. Service isn’t good. I’d suggest hiring staff with more experience, the staff isn’t friendly (either time we went)and frankly aren’t great waitresses. When your paying for $20 for ramen you expect good service and they failed both times. Next time I crave ramen, I’ll buy the .24 cent pack...

We gave their Korean Nachos and Honey Sriracha wings a whirl, and I may have to do something about the mighty need I have for another taco! The wings were tasty but I think they needed a little more sriracha, because the honey sort of overpowered them. The dipping sauce was based on the wing's sauce
Korean Tacos with pork are now my everything order there. The sambal, sriracha mayo dressing was astonishing! He tried their "Drunkin" Noodle with crispy tofu, (his first at tofu, and first time with drunken noodles AND chopsticks) while I stuck with my pork belly in coconut curry broth udon - my go to.
Our server was prompt, polite, and helpful. The music was at the perfect volume, and every song just hit that nail on the head. Perfect station choice. I love that Yum Yum came to Red Hook; I hope it stays for a long time because every time I go, I...
Read moreWe had a great experience in early November on a Saturday. We were impressed with the woman chef seemingly doing it all. The flavors were amazing and the ingredients all seemed super fresh. We loved it so much we came back early December on another Saturday- driving an hour from Connecticut to get there. Our expectations may have been too high after the first experience. The male chef today didn’t really hit the mark on flavor- as I got the same dish and it was just ok. The salad that came with the dish was drowning in sauce and I could barely eat it. I heard a lot of customers complaining about their food being too cold and other problems- which were sent back. I hope this was just a really off day. The hard part was coming in to all this from the cold only to be really cold sitting there inside. No heat. Everyone was wearing their coats...
