In September 2017, my mid-2010 Macbook Prop began running very slowly, and also would sometimes just turn off or not seem to be able to boot up all the way upon turning it on. I was completing my student teaching practicum after having just moved to Long Island from NYC and in the midst of the end of the coursework towards my second Master's degree, so I was a bit stressed out at the time. I called Apple about the problem and they said that, based on what I described, it sounded like I needed a new hard drive, and that I should reach out to a third party entity since my computer was out of warranty with them after 5 years from manufacture. I asked my husband what to do, while he let me temporarily borrow his PC so I could finish up the coursework for the semester without being interrupted, and he told me that his mom and brother both used Mr. Tech Bench and had great results. So I then waited until my semester was completed (December 2017) and then, once I'd recovered from the stresses of the holiday season, in February 2018 I went to Mr. Tech Bench and explained the difficulty I was having. They were then able to look at it and called me within a business day, I spoke to them and they explained that the difficulties I had been having with my Mac were stemming from the fact that I had way too many items saved onto my Desktop, and also because my memory was full. They had moved the Desktop items into one folder and deleted a few things so that I had about 80% of the memory full, that way the computer would be able to turn on and be used (although not for long, as they cautioned it will fill up again). While I do backup my Mac to my external hard drive pretty regularly, they said that I should delete items after I do so (which I guess I thought I had been doing, but perhaps not?) The owner discussed all of this in full with me once I came in to pick up my computer. I have to say I am happy with the work they've done and thankful I didn't have to pay $2,000 to buy another Mac (why do that when you can just keep the current one you have in working order by...
Read moreI honestly cant say enough good things about these people. My aunts I pad was boot looping for months we brought it to apple and they wanted almost 400$ just to tell us what was wrong it was insane. It actually ended up being nothing. They could of easily said basically anything and I would of totally believed it as the i pad was working perfect when they called. Ill be back for sure. JOB # 2....Transfer of old cpu guts to new case with install of a new AIO cooler. Once again, These guys are top notch. Greg, billy and roberto are the guys I see most in the store and I cant speak any higher of them. They worked with me ( I can be annoying) until I was fully satisfied. Its just so rare these days to not only find knowledgeable people in there chosen field but more important HONEST people. I wish I was rich and I could give each of them a nice bonus! :) I figured my repeat business will be enough as I WILL be recommending them to anyone that needs help with not just computers but phones and I pads as well. Greg, billy and uncle roberto....5 gold...
Read moreMy iPad Pro had the power cord break off in the power port. There was a piece stuck in it and I couldn't get it out. Searched for an Apple repair store and the only appt. I could get was for 2 days out. Did a google search and came up with Mr. Tech in East Islip. I called and the gentleman who answered told me to bring it in and he would have a look. He took the iPad into the back and within 5 minutes, brought it back out to me fixed. I also had taken my Surface Go in to be looked at and the damage to this PC was pretty extensive. Aaron checked it out and told me that he thought I could get a new one for less than the price of fixing mine. It was refreshing to deal with someone who was so honest. I thanked him for telling me and asked how much for the iPad service and he told me no charge. I would definitely recommend this shop to anyone who needs a repair done. As a matter of fact, I'm taking another laptop and a Samsung smartwatch in next week to be looked at. My new "Go To" for...
