Greenwood Hall — Attraction in Town of Islip

Our church hosted 5 events in this hall. It is very spacious and was what we needed for our group. Parking as ample and we loved that we had the freedom to set up as needed. However, the last 2 events we did need to clean the floors before we set up, there were balloons and a few decorations left over from what looked like a previous party. And the floors were filthy. We had a two day event back to back and you could see the floors hadn't been swept in a while. Also on another occasion the floors were mopped with ammonia about half an hour before an event and the smell lingered for the entire time. It bothered our guests who had asthma and small children/babies. For our last event of the year, our set up was not how it was indicated on the floor plan we were given, I had requested round tables and instead rectangular tables were set. It wouldn't have been a problem except that I only had tablecloths for round tables. Thankfully the gentleman who sets up happened to still be around to fix it. But it backtracked me about an hour. I had people arriving while I was still decorating. Overall the venue is very practical and a nice space and we were pleased with it; just want to point out some things that could be improved on. . Debbie stop playing you called me and breach my contract due to Covid. You specifically told me to come down and get my deposit, when my husband and I came down you switch up the story. This is going on two years now. I have all the screen shots and recordings. Debbie I’ll see u n max in court. Stop it with the fake professionalism. Because recordings don’t lie. The binding agreement/contract was broken when you told me to come down to get my deposit and cancel the day of my event due to Covid shut down. I just went there for a party and this place is disgusting. As soon as I entered I was plastered with the overwhelming scent of mold and mildew. There’s no windows/ventilation in the place, which I’m sure is why the mold/mildew is growing wherever it is. And because there’s no ventilation, when the kitchen is being used the entire venue fills with smoke.

Neither of the toilets in the women’s bathroom were flushing at all, toilets were yellow and obviously had not been cleaned. The bathroom looks like it hasn’t been freshened up since the 70’s.

Overall, if I were having an event, I would definitely not have it here. This building needs to be closed and investigated to find the mold...
