Along the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail is this beautiful small park. It has a dirt parking lot for over a dozen cars. There is a dirt boat ramp for non-gas boats. It would be a great place to kayak from. We met a friend there on a cold February day to walk the Rail Trail. It’s only .4 miles from 299. The park has picnic tables and in season it has a porta potty. It’s one of those small parks that makes the area so special. Next time I want to park there and walk south on the rail trail and hope to kayak from there in the summer.

As far as the boat launch goes, it's an excellent asset to have. I can't speak for any other facet of the park but the ramp. Access is well layed out and the gravel surface makes for good traction and mud free maneuvers for car-top and trailered vessels. No motorized boats permitted. On scene, during the Summer months, is a privately run kayak rental if you are so inclined.

This is a review of Sojourner Truth Park / Wallkill Fishing Access Site, located on the banks of the Wallkill River in New Paltz. This is not the same as the Sojourner Truth/Ulster Landing Park, locate in Saugerties on the shore of the Hudson River.

The park has a nice boat launch on the Wallkill River for canoes and kayaks. The river flows downstream through farmland, but the trees bordering the river give it a wilderness feel. The takeout is at Perrine's Bridge. There are no rapids on this section of river.

This park has picnic tables and barbeque grills for day visitors, but no rest rooms. The riverfront is gravel, not sand, and isn't really suitable for swimming. The park is located on the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail, so it's a place to stop for lunch if you'll...

A very small, but perfect park. Its right on the rail-trail, great for bikes, walks or horseback riding. There is a boat launch for the Walkill River, which is a great canoe or kayak spot. There are 3 picnic tables and 2 benches and a couple of grills. The landscape is maintained and there is a porta potty by the rail-trail entrance. A lovely spot for comtemplation or...
