As a curly girl, I’ve had many bad haircuts in my life. The haircut I had last year was one of the worst I’ve had, and so I did not want to cut my hair for a very long time. My curls looked stringy and choppy. Due to the worsening conditioning of my hair over time as well as the lack of shape, I knew I couldn’t go without a haircut forever. And so, I decided to come to Cut N Curls hoping for a haircut to my liking.
Upon walking in, I was greeted by Samina, who sat me down and took the time to ask questions about my hair, my concerns, and previous experiences. After all of that, she gave her recommendations on how to proceed. She made me feel more comfortable and less anxious, and told me up front how much she may need to cut off and why so I wouldn’t be shocked or surprised at the end.
I received a dry cut as per her recommendation and it is one of the best haircuts I’ve ever gotten. It was interesting to watch the unique techniques she used while cutting my hair. I had a lot cut off, but it was definitely needed. I finally have bounce and shape back in my curls and I’m happy to have finally received a great haircut after so long. The products she used in my hair made my curls shiny, bouncy, soft, and frizz-free for days. I would recommend this salon to other curly girls (or guys) who are tired of bad haircuts by stylists treating and cutting curly hair the same way they would with...
Read moreLong Island. If you have curly hair there is no reason for you to drag yourself all the way to the city to get a wildly expensive dry cut. My daughter has very long, very thick gorgeous curls that require absolute care. We spent the summer before middle school learning about her curl type, trying different products and styling methods so that she could walk in there with hair confidence (important at this age, any age, really). Once we mastered that, I wanted to find a salon or stylist on Long Island to help me maintain and shape this hair. I was ready to spend $500 and drive to the city but then I took a chance on Cut N Curl because they offered a dry cut. Best decision ever. A hidden gem, I’m telling you. Mina was patient and masterful with my daughter’s hair. She explained everything. She complimented the child along the way because she’s just a warm person. But most importantly, the cut and the shape! WOW. My daughter hasn’t stopped smiling. I was so impressed (and jealous of the curls) I scheduled an appointment for myself the following week and she delivered AGAIN. My hair is bouncing and behaving and I couldn’t be happier. CURLS ARE BACK! I almost don’t want to give this review because Mina will be booked and busy as y’all discover her but we curly girls gotta look out for each other. Go see Mina. You will...
Read moreI can't recommend this salon and Mina enough... It was the 5-star reviews that brought me here in the first place, and I am adding another. My hair is difficult to work with: naturally curly and graying at the roots, with touch-up required every 4-5 weeks. Mina assessed my color and texture, made recommendations for that appointment, and for maintenance. My hair was overdue for a cut, and Mina was able to provide a necessary cut while I was there. I then scheduled a keratin service for the following week. So after a few services in a short time I can say that Mina is meticulous in her work, takes her time at every point of each process, and is an absolute pleasure to be with. Whether she was discussing goals & what products I use, sectioning hair, applying color, at the sink, blowing out and throughout every step of the keratin process, she was gentle (not a single careless burn with dryer or iron... that's never happened elsewhere!), not rushing, completely focused and totally skilled. I will be back for Mina to provide her expert care to my very...
