My friends and I attended the Jimmy Eat World concert in October at The Space at Westbury. It was our first time to the venue. We were blown away by how clean and new the space was. I could not believe how nice the ladies' restroom was. Practically spotless! There were so many stalls and no line. I was extremely impressed.
Upon leaving the bathroom, I noticed a water fountain. I was shocked. Free water? At a concert venue? That is unheard of anywhere else. If you were lucky enough to sneak through bag check with a filled (or empty) water bottle, you could head on over to the fountain and fill it up free of charge!
I liked the sound from where my friends and I stood. I could hear everything clearly and it was not too loud (although I always wear foam earplugs to protect my hearing at shows.
The only issue we ran into was with the female bartenders. We dealt with two of them and both were rude and condescending; like they didn't have time for us and didn't want to deal with our order. Well, you know what? If you don't want to deal with people ordering beers at a concert, then don't work as a bartender at a concert venue! We each had one drink ticket and the bartenders had no clue what it was and thought we were lying about getting a free...
Read moreThis is a beautiful venue. There isn't a bad seat, soundwise, in the house among the 817 seats, SRO expands the capacity to 1500. I sat in the Loge last night, row D, which was good, but the floor of the Loge was unexpectedly level & flat. So obviously, the 3 rows ahead of me were directly in my line of sight. Surprisingly, most of the fans ahead of me happened to be large & tall men, which made it extremely difficult to see the band play. This was so frustrating. I can't imagine why the architect would make the Loge floor flat & horizontal to the stage. This was the first place that I've been to, that has a floor like this. Don't u think the architect & the engineers were lacking in their abilities for putting down a floor like this instead of having the floor & rows @ an angle up towards the back, so that all the fans can see the stage properly. What a waste of talent it was for these designers of 'The Space'. The only way to avoid this is to sit in the first row. This October, I'll be sitting in the first row of the balcony. All in all, this is a very decent place for concerts. The sound was excellent & the staff & security were helpful & friendly. I just have to choose my seats here...
Read moreFantastic evening at Aimee Mann. The sound was excellent - clear and well balanced. Every one of the staff was helpful and super friendly. In fact, at one point near the end of the show, someone decided to stand at the front railing of the balcony, blocking everyone's view of the stage in our section. Just as I started to get irritated, a staff member walked up to her and apparently told her she could go back to her seat or go down to the floor. I really appreciated that the staff was paying attention. We got there early and found parking on the street, so that wasn't the issue I thought it might be either. I've been to a show at the Paramount in Huntington and parking was a complete nightmare.
If you're looking at the seating chart, one thing to note is that the single letter seats on either side in the balcony are sofa-style and super comfortable. The double-letter rows in between are chairs. The balcony is pretty far away from the stage, as there is a large floor section and...
