A very poor place. A few old arcade games, some with broken glasses. They are all about making money, as much as they can squeeze from you: we had a party for our daughter, for which they normally include 3 pizzas. But as we only has 8 kids coming, they did not want to give a 3rd pizza. They told us that they won't do it because adults would eat it - there is additional food that you have to order if you want adults to eat. But of course we paid the full charge of almost $700.
They were rushing us through everything. Kids were asking for more pizza and while they were hauling it out (with one of the two pizzas being still full). We had to stop them and point it out. We were all done in 1h20min. We booked this place as our daughter wanted to play their Lazer Frenzy, they pretended to forget about it and we didn't do het to do it, they said it is not included. Naturally, with everything we didn't have time to check the fineprint then and there, but then when we re-checked the package carefully after the party, the Laser Frenzy was actually included. They probably didn't want to turn on the lights and systems for the Lazer Frenzy, so they save more money? And make more money off us? The kids were very disappointed.
They even had the audacity to give you a little envelope for tips for the staff (three people). And what did they do other than serve the food and hurry us at every step? We had to receive the kids and take them to the back when they said they'll do that; when the kids finished the water and were very thirsty, it took us to insist a couple of times for them to refill the pitcher (they did it only after we attempted to walk to an adjacent room which was empty but still had a pitcher of water- they immediately were on us as to why we are going there, we had already finished with that play room).
All other places we booked for kids' birthday parties in other years were.much better, friendlier, and accommodating (including as length of time) for the same price or even less.
Look at other 1 star reviews about birthday parties - not those 4 star older reviews of people who went by for a one time play. STAY AWAY from this place, or you and your kid will regret it. For this.mony, you get...
Read moreI was extremely disappointed in my experience here. I booked this place to celebrate my daughter’s 1st birthday and it was extremely messy and unorganized. I called the day before to confirm the schedule for the private event and was told the staff knew the timing would be 30 mins in the maze, 15 mins in the ninja warrior course, 30 mins in the inflatables ( in between that time they would call for the adult laser tag I requested) and then 45 mins in the party room. They led us to the maze area first and then after sometime called to move to the inflatables next. I asked the staff what happened to warrior course and was told it was included in the time with the maze which I had no clue about. None of the kids went to the warrior course because it was never told to me that they had access to it. I was under the impression the staff would escort us to the warrior course after the time was up from the maze. We then went to the inflatables and at that time I had to ask about the laser tag which I was told we had to wait because they messed up with the scheduling and another party is there. So we then went to the bubble dance party which I literally called and asked not to have because my daughter is afraid of bubbles now but because they messed up on the scheduling we had to go there next. After a few mins the gentleman informed me that the kids could go settle in the party room and the adults could go play the laser tag. We get the kids in the party room and was then told because of scheduling we may not be able to fit the adult laser tag in. This whole experience was extremely rushed and a mess. I will not recommend going there to celebrate a first birthday party and upset that I chose this place. This is a good place for open play and that’s it. The private areas they advertise are not really private as you have kids everywhere and the staff doesn’t do must directing. Very disappointed and not worth...
Read more10th Birthday Horror! I am so disappointed in my experience at Active Kids for my daughter's 10th birthday party yesterday. It was a 30 minute commute from Brooklyn and I did not expect such an unpleasant experience. The venue is extremely over priced and they do not accommodate older kids. I had guests whose age range was 10- 12 years old. When I went for the tour a few weeks prior, I was told that we were the only party booked for that day and because of my daughter's age, I would get the cafe which had age appropriate seating. On the day of the event, I was downgraded to the smaller room with the aquarium theme. The environment is geared more towards 5-6 year old parties. My daughter was placed in a kiddie room with tables and chairs for pre-schoolers. After brain storming. I was able shift around the tables and chairs and make it comfortable.
The children were given pizza that was 1/3 the slice of regular pizzeria slice. (Imagine a pizzeria slice being cut into 3rds) yeah!!! The slices were cut so thin that my guests were hungry after leaving the party. I was so embarrassed. The last slice was the width of a ruler and the party referees were asking the kids to pick a number in order for the "lucky person" to get the slice. As if it were an auction.
I paid so much money for my daughter to enjoy herself. While the kids did have a good time, as a parent and a customer, I could see the flaws. I would have felt less taken advantage of if I lost $600 on the street vs. paying for this event. Afterward, i was handed an envelope with my daughter's name and the word "tips". That was very unprofessional. I wasn't asked about my experience or if everything went OK. The only reason I gave 1 Star is because the party referees were very helpful and they kept the kids entertained.
Needless to say, I would never recommend Active Kidz to...
