This is a large park maintained by the Town of Queenbury. It has two trail systems. One is a mixed-use system for hikers, dog-walkers, cross-country skiers and snowshoers. The other is a dedicated system for fat-tire bikes when there's snow, and mountain bikes when there isn't. Hunting isn't allowed, so you won't get shot while your out enjoying the countryside.
There is a large public swimming pool available with restrooms and a bath house, open from June to Sept. Swim lessons and other activities are available for children. The area also includes a playground, picnic tables, half-court basketball court, and barbeque grills for use by visitors. The area includes a small pond that is cleared of snow in the winter for ice skating and a sledding hill.
A small fee is charged for admission to the swimming pool, but all other activities are free. (There's no fee for those under 5 and over 59.)
The main entrance is at 118 Gurney Lane that is sometimes closed mid-week during the winter, but there is a second entrance on an unnamed road off Gurney Lane at 43.361785, -73.707902 that is...
Read moreBeautiful and peaceful trails, very well maintained. Perfect for trail running or for a stroll in the woods. Clearly marked trails (there are maps in a few locations!). I used to live in the Adirondacks, so I am used to hiking. I moved out of the Adirondacks to go back to college and I miss it. It was nice to get out for a little while and be back in the woods. I believe the map says it's only 152 acres. I would like to try mountain biking there as the trails seem perfect and are very worn from all the traffic. There are a few different trails ranging from easy to slightly more advanced ( although a seasoned hiker would not find this challenging ). All in all a great place if you want to bring your kids for a walk through the woods and a lovely...
Read moreLocal MTB park super convenient to Lake George. Is it full of big drops or jumps? No. Pretty much all trails are easy or intermediate even the black trails. Good mix of single track and XC riding and the additional lower connector trail system makes for extended rides. Some nice short flowy sections, knobby single track and couple rock gardens. I come here more for off days riding when I just want to get in a quick lap or two. Parking is large with multiple areas upper and lower to trailheads. It’s part of a community rec area so it does get crowded on weekends and summer when you have overflow from people using the pool...
