Gracehill Fine Art & Basketry — Attraction in Townsend

WOW, all I can say is WOW !!! This beautiful gallery was a work of love for Kathy & it shows in every nook & cranny - the space she has created is truly beautiful & everywhere you turn & look leads to more beauty. I had the privilege of taking two classes in alcohol inks recently on July 14th & 15th - the first concentrated on landscapes & the second on flowers. I had always had an interest in this medium but had never tried it - well, if you've seen the alcohol inks she has displayed in her gallery I knew she would have a fantastic class set up for us. There were about 8 in our group - she first took time to explain the medium & then we started - the group was so fun to work with & Kathy is a great teacher - she always made sure we understood what we were learning to do. We all had lunch together & she provided delicous desserts for us both days. If you are thinking of taking some classes she teaches in a few different mediums & I highly recommend her - you will not be disappointed & she is a sheer delight to be around. I really need more than 5 stars to rate this amazing artist & the beautiful gallery she has created. Thank you...

One of the most beautiful, inspiring and exquisite galleries I've visited in all my travels around the US!! This gallery is a must-see for anyone visiting the Smoky Mountain area, and if you're a local, get over there and take in this rare gem. You won't find gourd and pine needle art more excellently crafted in the entire region. The alcohol ink artwork is so unique and could compliment any space. I love how there are practical-use items with the same art available. There are puzzles, tote bags, travel mugs, greeting cards and more. Kathy and her Gracehill gallery are gems on the quiet side of the Smokys in Townsend. I thoroughly enjoyed a recent class on pine needle basketry with gourds. Kathy is a skilled and patient instructor while letting students create what inspires each individual. The class all had beautiful creations and I can’t wait to do more.
