We stayed at Strawberry Patch in May 2022 and the location was very convenient to Townsend, The Great Smoky National Park, Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg; the “quiet side of the smokies”. We found Wendy to be very kind, accommodating, and an excellent communicator who provided detailed information and instructions and who responded quickly to both Airbnb messaging and text.

There are two multi-unit buildings on site so if you are traveling with couples or extended family this is definitely a place to consider. There is also an on-site restaurant that we did not eat at because we are Keto and the menu looked carb heavy. The outdoor community seating area is A++, a large open area right in front of the Little River with plenty of seating, a campfire area, and grilling available, it was very beautiful and so relaxing with the sound of the water and we enjoyed chatting with other travelers. This would even be a wonderful venue for a small wedding because there is a garden arch in the community area.

This review would have been five stars had it not been for the condition of the unit. It was spacious and clean with fresh linens, but very dim with old incandescent lighting and extremely dated with the carpet, paint, and décor like a step back in time to the 1980’s. The furniture was fine, but a major decorating update is overdue. I counted NINE old dusty fake flower arrangements; two would have been more than enough. There was a very beautiful wood look laminate floor in the bathroom and about 2 foot in the kitchen, this should have been extended throughout the unit and all of the nasty outdated carpet removed. We struggled to find a place to plug in chargers, no area for personal care items in the bathroom, one coffee and one tea k-cup pod was all that was provided, and there was an extra-large scorched skillet but no small pan for eggs and only one kitchen towel. Sometimes it is the small details that make a condo “homey”.

One unit was being worked on, if it was a decorating remodel I would have been interested to see what was being done. All-in-all if I were traveling in the area again I would certainly look at this offering because of the responsiveness of the owner and the beautiful riverside seating, but I would check to see what the units looked like. I would suggest that an interior pic of each unit be provided online so that guests could have a more accurate expectation of the unit they would...

I just spent the weekend with my family. It is a beautiful two-story cabin right on the water. We choose this spot hoping for a quiet, relaxing place to come back to and unwind after spending time on the more populated side of the mountain. Unfortunately we were at the mercy of the other guests. During our 4 day, 3 night stay, we had three different groups who were particularly loud. The host is adamant about quiet hours beginning at 9:30pm and I was frequently woken up after midnight or close to it, or being woken up before 7am. Our neighbors directly beside us on the shared deck upstairs had a boombox on all afternoon and into the night. I had felt tired earlier in the evening around 7 so in order to take a nap, I had to put in my headphones and listen to YouTube to drown out their very loud music. The host is also very adamant about only smoking at the fire pit and there are “no smoking” signs all around the deck. Those same loud guests were constantly smoking on the deck when my 93 yr old grandfather and my mother who has mobility issues were taking themselves down all the stairs and across to the fire pit. This cabin is lovely and they have it set up so nice with lights strung through the trees, an arch, hammock, lots of seating, and the room was clean and nicely decorated. The drawbacks are the walls are so thin you can hear everything and the possibility you get disrespectful fellow guests during your stay who don’t care to follow the rules or if you enjoy your time...

Horrible experience with this AirBnB — Wendy called me an hour before the deadline to check in and SCOLDED us for inconveniencing her. When we arrived she was difficult in giving the instructions to the room, refused to give me the door code when I asked for it, and continued to scold me for not arriving the way she wanted us to (even though we arrived before the deadline and followed her check-in instructions). She continued to call us even after we checked in just to interfere with our night and give us a breakdown of MORE of her rules. I’ve stayed in AirBnBs for years and have excellent reviews from hosts - this woman is on a power trip and is VERY controlling of her guests. My husband and I left and AirBnB refunded our money because of Wendy’s behavior. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place. The host made us so uncomfortable that we left and booked a hotel room closer to our destination instead. We are much happier knowing that somebody won’t be watching us from the parking lot or the nearby restaurant that she...

Be warned, host is rude. Our stay was so uncomfortable we left early and stayed at a hotel. Host offered no full or patrial refund on this misrepresented property. It is a 2-story cabin that has been sub-divided into 8 tiny units! What?! Our door was glass with no covering allowing everyone walking by on the porch to see inside. No ability to control your temperature (remotely controlled) and we were told not to contact the host for help after 9PM nor can you check in after that time. Cannot use fireplace, no televisions at all, slow internet, bedding was cheap, bed was hard, inadequate lighting, walls were thin (we could hear every step above us and could hear them having sex!) and an overall feeling of just old and nasty, even the shower rod was rusted. I could go on about how bad it was IMO but instead I'll just issue a warning. Be very informed before you rent this place. Wasted almost $700 on 3 night reservation.

Our stay at Strawberry Patch Inn was amazing! It was so relaxing and Wendy was so nice and accommodating to us. The room was way nicer than the pictures and it was super clean and smelled nice. Also, there’s bug repellent plug ins in the room and the porch area, so the bugs weren’t a problem at all. The river is beautiful and very soothing to hear and it’s near the national park so the view was wonderful. Townsend is a really nice place with really nice people and even had some good food places. It’s also only 30-40 minutes to get to Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and Sevierville (take the scenic route/back way; it’s makes the drive so much better). Overall, great stay and will definitely stay again!

This is one of the nicest little places we have stayed in the Smokies. The entire experience was great from check in to check out. The studio suite we stayed in was super clean and beautifully decorated. The outdoor space is clean and so relaxing as it faces the creek. It is a great place to sit and enjoy the creek or lounge around reading a book. It is close to restaurants and Cades Cove. It is with a 5 minute wal to the Townsend River Walk Trail, which is great for anyone who enjoys a peaceful walk. We will definitely stay there again.
