Here's a step by step tour of our stay at Dreamcatcher:||||Arrived at 5:30 pm. Found mice droppings on kitchen counter, but overlooked that knowing that a mouse can come into pretty much any dwelling at any time. There were five little mouse poops, but we could live with that. We changed clothes and headed to the Trailhead Steak House and had a great dinner.||||Arrive back from dinner at around 8:00 pm. Decided to run a bath in the giant tub. At that time we found that the hot water faucet control just spun around and around and didn't have a stop on it. We ran water, took a good sized hairball out of the drain, and found out that there wasn't enough hot water to fill up the tub to the jets. We waited a bit for the water tank to produce more hot water, filled up the tub and had a relaxing bath and watch The Voice.||||Now it's 10:00 pm and time for bed. My wife pulled back the covers on her side and found a small, green piece of candy...I think some kind of jawbreaker. Not in a wrapper, just a single piece of whatever it was. Seemed odd, but maybe that's what they offer guests as they go to sleep. I went to my side, pulled back the covers and found three of the same odd little candies. Very odd, but not enough to make us run and hide. Now, here's the straw that broke the camel's back for us...When I took off my glasses and laid them on the table next to the bed, my glasses and hand landed in something quite sticky! After turning on the lights it turned out to be a sticky circle from a drink of some kind. I went and washed my hands, still thinking that things would be okay, but when I laid in the bed and drooped my hand over the edge I found that the sheet were sticky, too! At that point I told my wife that I wasn't too tired to drive the one hour back to our house. We gathered up our stuff, left the key under the outside mat and got the heck out of there.||||Now...to this morning. At 8:10 I called to speak with Mrs. Webb and let her know our experience. I had only told her about the mouse droppings when she said, "I told you to call if anything was wrong, why didn't you call?". I explained that we were okay with the mouse droppings, and that by the time we found the other problems it was pretty late, and we didn't feel like we should bother them. I was only trying to tell her what was going on, but she was wildly defensive and told me how happy the last guests were, and that they had booked for next year already. She said that she and her husband had cleaned the room themselves, and that it was perfect when they finished. I asked her if there was an email address on their website because I was going to send her pictures of the problems so that she could address it with her cleaning staff (but I guess that would be her and her husband). At that point she raged that "people like you" make us just want to close the cabin business and sell everything!! She told me I shouldn't put picture on her website and wouldn't let me explain that I only wanted to send her picture, NOT post anything online. She told me that she didn't want to be upset and hung up on me!!||||I have never put a negative review on Trip Advisor, or anywhere else. Ever! If we have a bad experience at a restaurant I'll quietly speak with a manager or owner and tell them about it. I don't accept any offers of free desserts, comp meals, etc. I was in the hospitality business for most of my adult life, and have great respect for those that give their lives to making people happy!!||||We stayed at the Old Smoky Mountain Cabins because we had stayed there about 30 years ago in the "Love Shack" cabin and had a nice stay. We thought for my wife 60th birthday it would be fun to go back. Love Shack was booked so Mrs. Webb suggested Dreamcatcher.||||I wish that I had checked the Trip Advisor reviews before staying!! Shame on ME.||||Oh, and if you choose "Dreamcatcher" after all this, make sure you have a car that sits taller than a Toyota Camry. Our stock Camry scraped the bottom on the dirt path that leads to the cabin. I'm glad we weren't in the Corvette...we couldn't have gotten there. Wait...that would have been a...

The lock on the front door had just been temporarily changed and did not have a regular handle on the inside and my wife did not have the strength to open it. I had to grab the metal frame from the old blinds to get it to open if it was shut all the way. It was obvious that the windows had not been cleaned in a long time (I spent an hour cleaning them so we could enjoy the view from inside). ||||There is a lot of damage on the outside from carpenter bees. If you look closely at the picture on their website of the front of the cabin you can see some of the damage in the rafter. You can see from the pictures I’ve included it has gotten worse. I don’t understand why they don’t have carpenter bee traps up around the outside of the cabin. They only cost a couple of dollars each to make and they really work. ||||The table on the back deck had not been cleaned and the tray on the bottom of the BBQ was full of ash and cigarette butts. It also appeared that there was a bunch of powdery junk on one of the chairs. We called right away and someone came out within 90 minutes to take care of it. Found out the powdery stuff was dropped from where the carpenter bees were making holes. Didn’t want to eat out there.||||The cleaning staff did a good job cleaning the bathroom and kitchen as well as the linens. However on top of the refrigerator it looked like it had not been cleaned in a long time. I’m glad we didn’t put anything on top of it. It had a bunch of what looked like wood powder on it. ||||We brought sheets just in case because of other reviews we had read that we ended up using on the loveseat and the lounger on the back deck. We noticed over the next few days that powder was showing up on the end table and the love seat. We were very thankful that the bed had the covering over it so we did not end up with powder on us. It was definitely apparent from the wood powder in the cobwebs in the rafters that there is some kind of wood insect problem. Didn’t want to eat inside either.||||At one time this was such a beautiful cabin...It is so sad that it has not been taken care of properly. It was priced comparable to other cabins in the areas that are better taken care of. Use some of the hard earned money people are paying and spruce up the place and do what you can to prevent the damage.||||We will not be staying there again. Also I did not ask for a refund which is what the owner said people were trying to do that posted the bad reviews. Lesson learned always double check the reviews before you reserve a...
