Where to start...
Right off the bat the outside carpets are absolutely disgusting. To be fair the entire premises is under renovation, but it would take a maid less than an hour a day to at least vacuum them. I'm pretty sure there was belly button lint from 1994 stuck in there... The room was freshly, and cheaply, renovated. You might want to bring your own bed if you want a good night's sleep. Albeit I'm a big boy, but about an hour in I felt like I had sank to the box spring that was sagging into the floor. At least I got sleep - my pregnant wife said she did not. Even well after dark the bright lights from the pool area shone through the curtains and illuminated the room.
Credit where it's due: The pool area itself looked nice. There's a neat waterfall dividing the pool and hot tub. The pool itself is in dire need of repair, but hey, the waterfall is nice. Also, be careful near the edges. One of the inlets to the pump didn't have a cover on it and grabbed my arm and didn't want to let go. It looked like a nice little communal room upstairs with a 60-something inch TV and a small billiards table. We didn't go in but I can see the new owners are trying.
As far as staff, it seemed like they may have been in a different country. No, I'm not kidding. There's a service that they apparently use that acts as an intermediary between you and the hotel desk. As we had a late check in, and the office closes at 6, it took 3 calls but they finally sent me the code for the lockbox to get my room keys. There are cameras everywhere, and they're very transparent about that so no fault there.
Overall, I can see the owner is trying. In fact, they sent an automated newsletter about all their dreams and aspirations for the place, as well as apologies for the areas lacking and ongoing noise from construction during the day. I was going to be nice and not leave a review at all, but I got 5, YES FIVE, emails begging me to leave one. The first email was before I ever even got to sleep. So here's your review, for what it's worth.
Would I come back? Maybe in a year or two once the renovations are done. I wouldn't reserve anything before seeing it finished and sitting on the bed, however. A room can be as fancy as you want, but I'm not looking at any of that if I'm actually able to sleep. If you're looking to be close to Cade's Cove for those early morning wildlife sightings I'll say Townsend is prime. We were there in about 40 minutes which was a nice change. And hopefully this place grows into something awesome! It definitely has potential, but it's got quite a way to go.
Eight... They sent me three reminders to review AFTER I reviewed... so EIGHT reminders... I called the overseas number again to ask to be removed from their list....
Read morePlease forgive the length of this survey, but I believe in the end, it will be beneficial to anyone looking for a comfortable, charming, reasonably-priced place to stay in the Trenton area. Mike and I were on a short vacation to the mountains in hopes of seeing the fall color changes in TN & NC. (Sadly, we were 1-2 weeks too late for that splendor.) We stopped for one-night stays in Cleveland, TN and Blowing Rock, NC; taking a brief pause in Boone, NC before stopping to stay in Trenton, NC. All of the rooms we reserved were "supposed" to be "Pet-friendly, King Accessible, with a walk-in shower". Out of the THREE places we stayed, ONLY the Tremont Lodge & Resort provided what we actually asked for!! (It's taking great restraint for me NOT to mention the names of the other two places! But, they will get their justly deserved reviews!) At check-in, the friendly and accommodating host let Mike know that the building in which we would be staying had not yet been refurbushed as some of the others had been. Truthfully, after having experienced two disappointing stays elsewhere, it seemed as though this might yet be another disappointment... HOWEVER!! NOTHING COULD BE FURTHER FROM THE TRUTH!! Tremont Lodge & Resort is the ONLY one of the three that we actually plan to revisit!! We were both sooo pleasantly surprised!! It actually was a "suite" which had separate sleeping and living areas connected by a hallway. The sleeping area had a comfortable King bed, dresser, night table, lamps, and large-screen TV. (Hint: A chair in which to sit would be a welcome addition to this room.) The dressing area and the fully accessible walk-in shower with safety bars and an optional shower chair were off the hallway. In the living area, there was a cushy sofa bed, bureau, large-screen TV, desk & chair, tables, lamps, refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker. Plus, it even had a sliding glass door exiting to a small private patio with two chairs! The property is adorned with trees, shrubs, roses, gazebo, and three small arched wooden bridges to traverse the grounds! Our little Maltese, Gus, and I loved the walks around the property! There! I will end this review by saying, "Give yourself the pleasure and visit the Tremont Lodge & Resort. I do not think you'll be disappointed!". Linda...
Read moreWe had a terrible experience. At the time of booking, the reservation email stated that they did not allow check ins after midnight. We were coming from 7 hours away, leaving after work, so we would be arriving at least after 10pm. When we arrived, just after 10pm, we found the office to be closed. We had to call the number listed on the chalkboard out front to be told how to check in since there was no one there. Strange that they make you check in by a certain time when it doesn't matter because they're not staffed anyway. Then we get to our room, and there is an unmade, clearly slept in bed. This room also had a missing light bulb and damage in the shower. We had to call the number on the chalkboard again, and mind you, this number goes to an answering service where they don't speak very good English. She tried to give us keyless entry to a different room but it wouldn't work. She attempt to get ahold of someone who I guess lives on site, but they wouldn't answer. So finally around 11:30pm, we decide to go back to the dirty room, just so we could get some sleep. First thing in the morning when the office opened at 7am, we went down and were originally told that the manager wasn't in and wouldn't be for at least an hour because she was taking her kid to school, so we'd just have to wait around. We again told the lady at the desk the situation and how we had to sleep in a dirty room, and she finally gave us a different room, a clean one this time! She told us she'd speak to the manager. Later that afternoon, we got a call from Tremont stating that they would be refunding us for the first night due to all the trouble. Great! We were appreciative of that. But now, a week later, I still have not received my refund and Tremont is giving my credit card company the run around about issung the refund. Overall, we did not have a good experience and will not be back. I think they are seriously lacking management and they should have someone on-site available to help guests with checking in for the hours listed for...
