In response to Canyon Auto Sales' retort posted on 6/8/24, it seems there might be a mix-up as I believe you have confused me with another dissatisfied customer.
It was actually my husband who primarily dealt with Canyon Auto Sales regarding the truck's issues and he was the one who brought the truck in for repairs, not me. Furthermore, he was polite and composed at all times.
I never personally called the dealership to accuse them of selling us a "lemon." I only spoke to Mr. Tawney a couple of times when we were arranging for the truck to be towed to the dealership after it broke down. I can assure you that I was not at all upset or rude. It is not in my nature to behave in such a manner, and I understand the importance of maintaining a respectful demeanor, especially when seeking assistance. Any reference to me being rude or unpleasant to Mr. Tawney is entirely fabricated.
The claims made about the tire pressure monitor system are also fabricated or mistaken for another customer's experience. We did not encounter any issues with low tire pressure, and if we had, I am perfectly capable of inflating a tire.
I am confused by the assertion in the response that Mr. Tawney repeatedly asked me for a diagnosis. Our friend, who is not a professional mechanic, inspected the truck and discovered metal shavings in the oil. He suspected that the engine would need to be disassembled to address the underlying issue, but he did not provide a formal diagnosis. My husband informed Mr. Tawney about this, and the matter was not discussed further.
I am truly taken aback by the numerous false allegations and inaccuracies in Canyon Auto Sales' response to my original post.
Original Post: We purchased a truck from Canyon Auto Sales in December of 2023. Shortly afterwards, we encountered multiple issues with the vehicle, including excessive play in the steering wheel, the check engine light coming on (several times), and a gas cap issue. Despite being assured that these were minor problems, the truck ultimately broke down in May and required a costly repair. The rapid onset and nature of these issues indicate a pre-existing mechanical problem that we were not informed about at the time of purchase. After a month of waiting for diagnosis and repair we finally received the repaired truck and we noticed a new problem—a noticeable knocking from underneath the vehicle. We feel that we were misled and sold a faulty truck. While exploring legal options may not be feasible for us, we strongly believe that the dealership should have offered some form of compensation or considered buying the truck back. Canyon Auto Sales had the chance to do right by us, but...
Read moreAfter the vehicle I bought was sold to me by Bill I had to come back a couple times once for a speaker blown another for low battery charge fault popping up (replaced the battery and speaker. Speaker went out again same day it was replaced denied fixing). They “inspected” my car found nothing wrong sent me on my way. Continued maintenance and care as regular. Went to Colorado got stranded for an extra unplanned week Bryan and Bill refused to offer any help related to my car. Bryan raised his voice at me for wanting to have someone more knowledgeable than me to explain the issues found since he stated me not being in the auto industry means I have no mechanical knowledge and if we could come to an agreement. He refused. Issues involved camshaft and timing belt. I would not purchase any vehicle here if you don’t know what you’re looking for they are not for the people 100% would not recommend.
Edit, date of purchasing vehicle June 28 2025. Date of having to bring into shop due to major malfunctions September 13 2025. Total time from date of purchase to time of failure two months, two weeks. Not five months. Amongst the other repairs needed there was a missing motor mount wasted serpentine belts, entire cooling system needed replaced, vacuum pump/ line/ gasket, lower coolant hoses, valve cover gaskets. The only unnecessary expense in all this was having to be stranded in another state with an unreliable vehicle that was bought from a company that at the very least could have mentioned the things that were to go soon. I shouldn’t have to purchase Warranty for a vehicle that you’re selling in “good” condition when I tell you my needs and you promise a quality vehicle to match. The company also denied me being able to change vehicles nor would they allow me to sell back my vehicle to them what so ever. During the recorded phone call I have with the company no disrespect was given at any point up until Bryan continued to cut me off and not allow me to get a word out from fear of him speaking to the mechanics. Which is when I said “in that case I will be taking this to an attorney general.” Where Bryan said “that’s fine if that’s what you will be doing we have no reason to continue this conversation.” Where he then said bye and I promptly hung the phone call up with no further response. A report to the BBB has also been filed the company has not yet complied with a response and the BBB has stated they do not believe they will get a response from Canyon Auto as they have not in the past however the waiting period to receive a response will be honored. Also Canyon I am a man, there is no need to disrespect me by...
Read moreI have nothing but praise for this dealership. After contacting and visiting many dealerships, I became disenchanted with not only the selection, but the process. Many times, the cars we viewed weren’t as nice as the pictures seemed to implicate, and the nonnegotiable fee’s added to the quote were frustrating (LoJack, for one). After a long search for cars in California, I decided to expand my search, and stumbled across a car that I was interested in, in Tucson Arizona. I called and spoke with Steve, who was more than happy to answer any questions I had, emailed me the Carfax, and a quote that showed no additional money grabbing fees were tacked on. That was so very much appreciated, and I felt very comfortable with making the 7 hr trek to see the car in person. Upon arrival, we were greeted with friendliness and consideration. The car was waiting out front, and surprisingly it looked even nicer in person. I took it for a test drive and it drove beautifully, and I decided that our hunt for a car had come to an end. At this point we dealt with Stuart, who was just as kind and courteous as Steve. As this was going to be a car for my daughter (her first), Steve and Stuart understood how much effort I had put in, in making sure I got her a car that was solid and dependable. We planned to take it for a little road trip, and they allowed me to keep my car on their lot, which was above and beyond my expectations, but was very appreciated! Steve even called to check in with us to make sure we were okay, which was again, so very thoughtful. It also turned out to be a fortuitous time to let him know that we discovered that the heater didn’t work. I must have checked everything but that! He was very disappointed to hear that, and wanted to make sure it was checked out upon our return, which was reiterated by Stuart. So, in a nutshell, if you’re looking for a dealership with quality cars and service, no hidden fees, and people who honestly care, then I feel confident in recommending...
