Saguaro Solar Company — Attraction in Tucson

Unfortunately I have to give this very negative review. This story involves Southern Arizona Better Business Bureau, Arizona State Attorney General’s Office and just recently (7/10/2024) the Arizona Registar of Contractors as it relates to Saguaro Solar Electric, ROC 333300 and their roofing business as well (Saguaro Roofing Plus LLC, ROC 347405). I contacted Saguaro Solar (point of contact Tim Powers) back in December 28, 2023 regarding a replacement for my solar inverter at our house. Since it was still winter and we had rains we discovered we had a leak on our roof. Somehow this came up in our conversations with Tim Powers and he mentioned his company did Roof work as well. Thinking this may work out after doing some basic research (online mostly) with the Better Business Bureau and google reviews I went ahead with the roof and solar work to be done by Saguaro Solar. Overall the reviews were good, most no one has perfect reviews. In the end I was wrong. Saguaro Solar and the roofing side of the business have been horrible at keeping me updated on anything. Since I have been trying to get my money back they have been even quieter. 6 months went by with no roof work. This is non-compliance with stated and written contract that also never included their ROC license or an estimated time of completion for the work to be performed. I have been requesting my money be refunded (the 50% I paid upfront for work to begin) which was $12,121.25 for the roof and $1,629.96 for the replacement of the solar inverter without a cancellation fee. I also told them they can keep the inverter since I’m no longer interested in fixing the solar set up I have. I’m sure they can use the inverter somewhere else. I have lost all trust in Saguaro Solar Electric, Saguaro Roofing Plus LLC, especially since they have been avoiding me and the Better Business Bureau and the AZ State Attorney in my quest to get my money back for abandonment of work (solar) and for no work performed on the roof. Being that these companies are dual specialty licensed (as far as I can tell) I would like any owner/member/qualifying party to reach out to me and arrange to have my money refunded to me. Whether it be Noe Quijada or David Del Orcutt for Saguaro Solar Electric or Enrique P. Borboa, Abraham Alejandro Diaz Robles, Noe Quijada, or Douglas Vernon for Saguaro Roofing Plus LLC. BTW, I did get another company to get my roof done with two layers of the proper underlayment under the ceramic tiles that I have on the roof. This work was agreed to back towards the end of June and completed just before the rains came in. If for some reason the Registar of Contractor can’t help me then I will have to consider other legal options. I will either get my money back or continue to be a thorn in their shoes (Saguaro Solar Electric LLC, Saguaro Solar LLC, Saguaro Roofing Plus LLC), or however many different...

Part one… I’ve rented solar before with another company, sun city way back in the day and was very skeptical of getting solar again we wanted a $0 electric bill but it didn’t pan out that way we were still paying both a solar rental fee and an electricity bill. So when Saguaro Solar came to me I was uneasy about the idea of putting solar again. We really still like the idea of having a zero electricity bill especially with prices on the rise with everything now a days this was a good way to eliminate one bill. we decided to chat with saguaro solar maybe they can build us a better system to help fit our energy consumption needs. So as of today, we just finalized all the paperwork and documents and permits and working with Sylvia at Saguaro solar has been fantastic. She is knowledgeable and was able to answer or get answers for all my questions. Sylvia has been very kind and professional throughout the whole journey for me and my family. so if you go with saguaro solar ask for Sylvia she will be very helpful with your solar energy needs. We purchased a solar system and 1 tesla powerwall-3 battery for now may purchase another battery with our income tax return. Very excited and ready for install. So this is part one keep in mind permits may take longer to get since you have to go through the city, TEP and your HOA for approval. We are now ready for install. I will write another review on that service. But so far it’s been a great experience thank you Sylvia at Saguaro Solar.

Part 2… Yay!! Installation completed and TEP just did a meter set. Tesla Powerwall 3 battery is charging as we speak so exciting! Thank you to Sylvia for going above and beyond answering all my questions and working with Climate first bank to get permits and projects rolling from the beginning to end. Thank you to Bethany’s install team Nick,Tony, Benny, and Angelo on a great installation job and sending a team back out to address my concerns at such a quick timely manner. Thank you Savannah for getting TEP to come out to set my meter. Thank you so so much Donny for trouble shooting my wifi connection to my Powerwall 3 battery, walking me through the system, And most importantly answering my phone call on your day off and walking me through via FaceTime to help me turn on the system seconds after TEP did a meter set on your day off! That was above and beyond. Thank you Saguaro Solar for helping me with my energy needs. This team is kind, courteous, knowledgeable and quick on the response with all my concerns and questions. Stephanie C was THE BEST! Right on time, extremely professional, and very very informative. She answered all my questions. She went over information in a way that made sense without making it seem like she was talking down to me. When I didn't understand she approached the answer from a different angle so I could understand. She had enough graphs for me to understand without being overwhelmed. I come from a corporate background and am very familiar with Death by Graphs. Did not happen here.

Other solar companies acted like I wasn't there, or my questions were stupid or frivolous, and just talked to my husband. Not in this case. Stephanie acknowledged us both, and talked WITH us, not AT us. She was very patient with us and didn't try to rush us into a decision.

She did not try to talk over us, or push us into a contract we weren't ready for. There was no fast paced sales pitch. She wanted to make sure that we were comfortable with all the information, the prices, and the different packages. She LISTENED to me. She was extremely knowledgeable and had all the information with her. She did not once stammer or hesitate, or say she had to contact her boss. She was ON IT and had everything, all the answers. I never once felt pressured or pushed into a decision.

My husband and I did need time to discuss this, and review the information, and figure out a budget. Stephanie never pushed us to sign on the spot. We did have one other company to talk to, and we told her this.

Saguaro Solar got our business based on how Stephanie treated us as people. She was patient, and a very good listener and understood our concerns. She never rushed us, never once acted like we were wasting her time.

She also tolerated my dogs, so extra bonus points!

Seriously, THIS is the company to go with. My husband has been researching solar for a few years, and this is the one we have decided on. Zero regrets. :)
