Update: Handicap Discrimination

The staff at cartel told the handicap friend I was with that he was no longer welcome there because of MY review. Given his mother works in law for handicap rights, they'd be lucky not to get sued.

Is it necessary to stack chairs on the table next to my face and interrupt my conversation 20 minutes prior to closing to let me know you'll be closing in 20 minutes?? All of them do it, but usually they don't interrupt and they start cleaning 15 minutes or less to close. They don't sweep around my feet or spray within a foot of a customer to clean the table like the tall slender dude who thought it was necessary to interrupt my conversation. I know what time you close. That's completely unnecessary, extremely rude, and obnoxiously un-inviting. He also removed the drinking water about 30 minutes prior to close, stomping about unapologetically as if to forewarn that they'd be closing in 30 minutes. That place cleared out FAST, nearly empty by 15 to close. I'm not sure why everyone here hates their job so much. With a pretty amazing competitor down the block, Raging Sage, you'd think they would make an effort to be half as accommodating to their late customers. Cartel isn't open much longer than Raging Sage. I'd rather leave 30 minutes earlier from a welcoming establishment than go to one who clearly is not happy to have my business. I won't be going out of my way to come in. It's not difficult to convince someone to meet elsewhere. Not to mention the music was blasted so loud I was shouting just to chat...

I have been going to the Campbell location for coffee and a pastry several times a week for a year, and I have had very little problem or complaints to offer...The coffee is always very good and the barista's are over the top friendly...Recently, I had a situation where a barista missed part of my order, and it wasn't discovered until after he had swiped my card...Instead of doing two transactions, he cancelled the first and did a completely new transaction....When I got home I noticed that both transactions had hit my account....I was none too happy about this, and I became even more incensed when the only phone number I could find for the entire Cartel chain in AZ was in the Phoenix area...I left a terse and very angry message, and an equally angry e-mail....However, after 24-hours April, the office manager, returned my call...While we could not agree on the subject of the phone number, she was very kind, and she checked her records and could not see the first transaction, but she did see the second one....This made me feel much better; however, because I was obviously upset, she kindly refunded me all my money for my troubles...The only complaint I can give, is that of the phone number, and, it is my opinion, that they should have one for each store....Otherwise, this once angry customer is now eating crow...Thank...

I Really like the name of this establishment. The space is open with lots of light and an industrial feel. When I entered there was a good sized line so my anticipation was growing to see what they had to offer however apon finally arriving to the front of the line my anticipation quickly turned to confusion.. The menu board was like a" Free Guy" Rip off. I asked what specialty drinks they had, there were four. All involved honey or agave or simple syrup. Non of which are favorites for me with coffee. During this time the two employees were having a scintillating conversation about music for which I felt incredibly rude interrupting with my silly questions. Non the less they did their best to answer with pointing towards the direction of the menu and seamlessly continued their debate. After ordering a medium latte I wEnt into shock .9dollar and change for this coffee .it better be good I hoped to justify paying 9 and change for a latte. I waited for awhile before one of them broke their conversation to tell me "thats your coffee there by the way". I sat in my car and took my first sip. I was instantly disappointed. It had barely any froth and he coffee tasted burnt. Later I learned from a friend that they intentionally burn the beans. Why? I will...

I used to come here to work and use wi-fi while enjoying the great coffee, service and atmosphere, but today I’m just here for coffee, hanging out, and playing on my iPad. The coffee is great (I got a delicious iced latte), the service is warm and welcoming, great fast Wi-Fi, plenty of space, different types of seating (long table, long table with high chairs, soft leather chairs), and as busy as the area is, pretty easy parking. Today I got the iced latte within probably one minute. I couldn’t believe how fast that was. I’m so used to assuming I’ll sit down and get my drink in maybe 10-15 minutes but nope, this was awesome! Also, I’m a little high maintenance so I wanted the drink for here and the blueberry muffin to go and the guy was really accommodating and even gave me a little box for it. That was thoughtful. Always return here when I’m in the area. Baked goods are delicious too.

There are many places to get better coffee and/or equally good coffee AND at more affordable prices. We had a 15 min wait for 2 coffees and 2 breakfast burritos. Given the wait I expected greatness. The burritos were warm on the outside and just below room temperature on the inside. This means they are just poorly heating up pre-made food. Who knows how long it has been in the fridge. If I wanted heated up manufactured eats I could go to Starbucks. Or better yet, eat a Hot Pocket since their burrito was a similar experience. The coffee was served in glasses. Yep. Dumb. Super hot to the touch because glass is a great conductor of heat. But it quickly cooled and so did the coffee because glass in not a good insulator. If you love hot coffee, you will be in a catch 22. Did I mention that the $10 burritos are the size of a $2 burrito at a gas station... come on!

The ambiance and flavor have won out this five star review. When reading other reviews on this thread I understand that you might not want to wait ten minutes for coffee. However going to a coffee shop and enjoying espresso correctly is a way of life and an artistic experience. So as they say, you can’t rush Art. My latte tastes awesome. My 3 year old is happy. The vibe is on point. There is SOO much space to have a study party here and it’s comfy. I’m from California so the prices are exact. Remember, getting Starbucks, is not the same as getting coffee.
