I had seen a lot of hype for this place on social media, especially from influencers, and the concept seemed like a refreshing break from traditional Sonoran food. I finally decided to give it a try on a Sunday around 5 PM, and unfortunately, my experience was far from the positive buzz I’d seen online.
When I arrived with my daughter, the restaurant was extremely dirty, with nothing picked up, and we waited a few minutes before anyone even acknowledged us. We opted to sit outside since it was freezing inside, but our first table was covered in ants. The next table had no napkins, silverware, or anything. I assumed the server would bring them, but I was wrong.
After a few minutes, the server dropped off menus without explaining anything and left again. When he returned to take our order, we asked for a Mexican lemonade, which turned out to be the worst lemonade I’ve had in Tucson. It tasted like watered-down sour mix, and even the sour mix wasn’t fresh. Given the state of the restaurant and service so far, I wasn’t surprised. Again, the server offered no information about the menu or the restaurant’s offerings.
We ordered a quesadilla for my daughter, which was a poor excuse for one, and I had a couple of tacos that were average at best. Nobody told us about the salsa bar, and we had to get our own napkins and silverware. I sent the lemonade back because it was undrinkable, but there was no apology or acknowledgment.
The whole experience was worsened by the dirty atmosphere, with flies and ants everywhere. We barely ate our food and left quickly. Even though our bill was only $25, we didn’t feel like we got our money’s worth—just a tiny quesadilla and two mediocre tacos. I won’t be returning, and while the concept is unique, the poor management and service are likely to drive this place out of business. With so many great options in Tucson, I definitely wouldn’t waste...
Read moreI was wooed by Tucson foodie and the instagram videos of their food, so went in on a Monday afternoon at 1545. There’s a wait to be seated sign against the wall as you enter. 4 tables are occupied, with another 6 that are empty but need to be cleaned or bussed. That leaves 2 sitting directly behind someone or at the counter or high tops. We ask the male server if we can wait for the one empty table in the corner to just get wiped off and he says sure. The manager was sitting at the counter on her laptop. The server brings us menus after a few minutes and comes back with a HH menu. He’s the only server/busser in the restaurant. The The carne asada was good, had a few pieces of gristle and fat which I don’t mind. The chicken was definitely from the day before so we didn’t eat that. Shaved ribeye quesadillas were good but my daughter said she hoped for a bit more meat. The costilla app was great, when I was ordering it my server tried to warn me by explaining it came “Fred flinstone” style lol. We didn’t get our elote appetizer. The adobo was good but on the salty side. The beans were in a ramekin and had been left out for a while because it had that crust beans get on top when kept cold under a warmer. Tortillas are okay, not the worst. I like that they have a salsa station, with cucumbers, cabbage and limes, but they were out of pico and I didn’t ask for more because our server had a lot on his plate already. The cucumber agua fresca is great and refreshing. Our server did take the elote off the bill when I told him that we hadn’t gotten it. All in all, if this restaurant wants to survive on this corridor of Campbell, they are going to have to step up on their food and service. I would say for the price point it’s not that expensive, but we did not get...
Read moreI really want to like Goodness Fresh, I really do. I debated between giving three or four stars, because I really wasn't impressed with the burger that I had here at all. Although I am giving three stars due to what I found to be disappointing food and drinks, it really is a nice location with great potential and I love to see places that care about providing people with healthy, fresh, plant-based foods in a fast-casual environment.
I have to say though - the classic burger (and presumably the other burgers) definitely need some work. The bun was so dry that it felt like crumbs were coming off it left and right into my hand as I bit into it, which was rather unpleasant because of the low quality of the buns. The main burger was alright, but definitely lacking in some more flavors and textures. Perhaps it could use some sort of sauce or dip? I've been to other vegan burger places that have delicious vegan sauces inside the burgers. I really just have to say that the burger disappointed me immensely.
As for everything else, the burger was accompanied by a nice and fresh side bowl with chick peas, which was a nice touch that added to the healthiness of the meal. The latte's here were also alright, but again - nothing I would probably pay to have again. I can get much better quality for the same price somewhere else.
The dining area itself was clean and spacious, and the service was friendly and quick. There was also a nice patio area outside available and parking in the back.
I don't know if I would come back again and get a burger unless some changes were made, although I might try some of the breakfast or salad items some time, as I did enjoy the little side chick pea salad that came...
