I went to Computer Universe for some guidance or/advice as I recently chose to purchase and upgrade an older MacBook. I ran into an obstacle and took it to a “professional” business that was listed as certified to work on MacBook’s. Had I known from the get-go that all they would do was uninstall the upgrades I had made and reinstall (incorrectly) the old parts, I would not have left my computer with them. I never received any calls while it was in their possession to say this was their intention, as it was not mine when leaving it with them. I could easily have done as much myself. I would suggest that you communicate with your client what your intentions are and see if they match theirs! I am furious since I basically paid to have the old parts shoddily put back and had to remove and correctly reinstall them myself. When I tried calling the store to report this issue, it went to an automatic service that asked for an extension which I entered, from there it continually rang and I never spoke to an actual person. The customer service was poor to mediocre at best. I will never trust them to look at another...

Not too mention prices are absolutely insane, it's like 2020 scalping never left this store. I went in looking for something very specific, the guy then proceeds to walk over to the parts rack and say this is all I've got. Telling me it's better and the top of the line, and me who has been building computers for over ten years literally explained to him why it wasn't anything special and how amazon sells it for 1/3rd of the price. So yeah just do yourself a favor and drive 2 miles down the road to best buy. They may not be extremely knowledgeable but they're not gonna try to sound like they know what they're talking about...

The pricing seemed pretty reasonable (similar to what Apple quoted me) and I was keen to have it locally repaired with a quicker turnaround UNTIL I was told that “if there is damage done to the screen you will have to pay for that to be repaired, but you don’t have to have it fixed if it’s just cracked and still functions. You could just use it like that.
