So I've begun to notice after shopping there a while there are severe problems with shopping at Brookshires. Here are my reasons:
They sell products that are on the verge of crossing the expiration date or have already expired. It used to be you could buy a can of bean dip and put it in your pantry and eat it a month later. Now, you have a few days before it crosses the Best By date. I consistently run into foods that are already expired on their shelves.
Their fuel program is a joke. You get 10 cents off per $100 that you spend in their store. You don't get points for buying gasoline and your gasoline discount is for ONE PURCHASE only. It's not worth it at all. Look at the fuel discount that Walmart+ offers. And I hate Walmart but I'd honestly rather shop there than Brookshires. Also, maybe it's just me but I think their fuel doesn't seem to last as long.
The cost of their groceries is SIGNIFICANTLY higher than the competitors, and not just by a few percent. We're talking at least 20 percent higher for most items.
Speaking of competitors, there aren't many in the Tyler area. Even Super 1 and Fresh are owned by Brookshires. You pretty much have Aldi or Walmart if you want to avoid Brookshires. Want to know why? Because Brookshires has a distribution center in Tyler. Brookshires gets involved politically and muscles out competition, resulting in inferior products at higher prices. Most Texans would LOVE HEB to come to Tyler but they don't because of Brookshires.
It's in my honest opinion that if you love Texas and love Tyler, don't shop at Brookshires because this company helps keep our population in the poor house. It's...
Read moreMy son got the flu last week, so before the weekend I took my other two kids to get the flu shot. While I was there I asked for Tamiflu just in case the other two started showing symptoms of the flu. They faced it over to this pharmacy. Well I called the next day and they said they didn’t have anything. I called the nurse, on a Saturday, and they gave me the store number and the confirmation receipt of both prescriptions. Both matched this pharmacy. I called again with this information and they again said no, with an attitude. I called another Walgreens, and even they showed that it was sent and received at the Brookshire’s pharmacy. Needless to say I went to the other Walgreens, where she was very helpful and filled the prescriptions there, with a Good RX coupon. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not use the Walgreens at Brookshire’s. They are rude and inconsiderate and if not for the other pharmacy my kids would have had to deal with 104 temps this weekend without much more help than Tylenol and Advil. I am very angry and saddened by the way this pharmacy handled itself. I also never, ever write reviews, but they messed with my children and that is...
Read moreI was in there on Friday 3/28 about 930. The lady in the deli slicing meat was being very ugly to elderly man. The man was having a very hard time moving and she was just a griping about having to let him taste some meat and slicing more meat. She just slung his meat on counter up high to where he could barely reach it. Then a man came out and she kept complaining about cutting up a whole off the bone ham and stated she would not be cutting up anymore meat. She hollered across the store that she needed a break. She was very rude. The man clerk never commented and seemed to be ignoring her comments. She should be glad she has a job and never be rude to an elderly person or any customer. I did tell the manager on duty. He said he would speak to her. I felt very sorry for the elderly man. Checker...
