I learned tonight, not all Meadows are created equally...
This is the Meadows located in Latrobe, not to be confused with its exceptional sister store in New Alexandria. Unlike the store in New Alexandria, the experience here was a classic example of the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. So, let's start with the Good, shall we? The Meadows is a local custard shop that prides itself on good, nay, very good custard, along with friendly and efficient customer service. The custard itself here is top-notch, thick, creamy, and simply delicious - you really can't go wrong with custard and they do it right.
Now, the Bad - the service was wonky to say the least. Groups that entered after my wife and I got their orders before we received ours, and some of their orders were very similar in style and selection to what we had asked and paid for. How does that happen? It makes no sense how an order placed 5-minutes earlier would come out 5-minutes later than a separate order placed 5-minutes ago. How? I have no idea.
Which takes us to the Ugly - to be fair, my wife's order did come out eventually, and it came out as requested and she loved it. As for my order - it became an odyssey to get to it. Not only did we watch other groups order their custard, get it, and then leave, but I had been asked not once, not twice, but three times what I had ordered so they could get it "right to me." Even so, after repeating three times (four if you count when I told them at the register) what I had ordered - it still came out wrong. At that point, I took what I got and we left before anything else could happen. I will say what I got was good, even though it wasn't what I wanted.
I think I'll be sticking to the New Alexandria store for my custard fix for the...
Read moreTried the latrobe Meadows for the first time. The place was absolutely beautiful if I could star the review based on different categories I would. The decor and place is beautiful and would give 5 star. On the other hand the stars on the experience, ice cream and employees are something different. We traveled 30 mins to get strawberry scooter crunch we got there at 8pm which they close at 10 and they were sold out. Then I ordered a peanut butter shake which didn't have any flavor to it. My husband ordered butter pecan yogurt and it had a hint of flavor. Total waste of drive and money. The girl that waited on us had no personality and seemed very annoyed to be waiting on customers. Such a disappointing visit. As we couldnt wait to try it. I hope that in the future they...
Read moreThe Meadows franchise would be disgusted at the owners of this location. I’ve opted for one of the flavors of the day on multiple occasions now. While the custard itself is good, it’s almost as if that’s all you get. 99% custard, 1% add-ins.
For example, I got the butterfinger and cream as the flavor of the day today. Hardly any butterfinger in it. And I don’t even know what the cream part is - I would guess Oreo’s for ‘cookies and cream’, but none of that in here. It’s like that every, single, time.
Staff was probably ordered to cut back on add-ins to save the (Sharky’s) owners $$$ so they can stuff their pockets even more.
I would stick to standard custards at this location if you order from here. Never have this issue at other...
