I just adopted my smooth haired Chihuahua, Spike. He is 10 years old and very friendly. He really needs the expertise and socializing so I've spent a week checking out the doggie parks in Delco. When I came across this one I decided to take a drive over to check it out and I was very impressed. My Spike will love it and his new mommy is in remission from stage 4 throat cancer which has long term treatment side effects from both chemo and the radiation, so new momma is in need of exercise and a reason to get up and out into the fresh air. Kent , I have decided, is my place. Today I went to get his license and got his microchip and tomorrow we will be going to Rosetree park Leedom House in Media (for those who in this thread have said there is no information) with his latest rabies and vaccine record, dog license, microchip information and a check for $20.00 for the year and they will give me my key fob and. Information booklet. Everyone can download the application from the website for Kent and they can get application for dog license from the Borough website search dog licenses the license is 31.00 for a lifetime and if you are disabled or it's a service animal it is 21.00 for a lifetime you can get the license immediately if you go in person, 7 to 10.days by mail. Better in person go to media for license then 2 mins away to Rosetree park for the membership. I'm very excited I can't wait to take him tomorrow! It'll be worth the bath he'll need afterward lol. Hope this info helped those of you confused about how to obtain a membership. It's better to pay a fee than to visit a park that is free and have to worry about stepping in dog poop, your small dog getting mauled by someone's larger dog, no maintenance at all and no screening of the other animals you're trusting your dogs around. I would pay a lot more if I had to. And for those horrified about the 20 00 charge.... And then complained about the lack of maintenance, donate more specifically for the cleanup and maintenance of the park, talk to other members and ban together to have better maintained grounds for the money you give. Or, I often just smh, grab a plastic bag and pick stuff up and find the trashcan. Why not? Ithat 20 made the park partially my responsibility so if it gi see trash or u bagged poop, I just pick it up and then it doesn't...
Read moreThis park has come a long way since I was a kid. The Creek isn't as high but still flowing strong. Lots of birds. The new hiking trail is nice. A mix path consisting of paved and unpaved by rocks or dirt. Feel free to walk, jog, ride your bike or whatever. Pets are welcomed but must be leased out of the dog park and please curb your dog.. Seriously folks. Be responsible for your pets.. If you can't, leave them in your own yard.. The trail is Wooded on one side the other side follows the creek. IF you go off trail make sure you know what poison ivy, oak, sumac, 7min itch and other harmful plants etc looks like bc they all can be found hand n hand with each other just about every where and some plants are huge. Please don't disturbed or mess with the Geese. I saw plenty of new gosling and the adults meant business. They will slowly get out of your way so don't try to scare or yell at them. Remember to Respect all living things. The 102 Trolley Runs thru the park and there is a stop. Great idea for anyone who wants to get out of dodge and cool off but doesn't have car to get off the beaten path. This park is prefect. A cute small waterfall. The creek isn't deep so kids n dog of all ages can enjoy. The huge rocks in the creek are awesome. You can do some fishing (get your permit first)The oldest cabin the Swedish Cabin is on the trail. A great dog park. I challenge anyone to find John Fords along with Ella, John Jr and wife Annie's final resting place. Smile enjoy yourself and say hello to your fellow neighbors. A simple smile and a hello can make our community a better place!! Enjoy...
Read moreMy husband and I recently adopted our dog in 2018. We joined Kent Dog Park in like September or October last year. (Before we were going to a free park in Havertown). I like that the park requires ever member to have updated shots/rabies shot to get in, and you pay to have a key in order to get in.
So far, we have gone times where we were the only dog, and some times we went when there were like 10 dogs. I give this a 3 star for two reasons. One is the free park ALWAYS had dogs to play with (we went every time of the day and there was always at least one friend!). I don't like that Kent Dog Park has times when there aren't any other dogs. Another reason for the 3 stars in the mud. Our puppy Leo gets so muddy and dirty when going to the park. This could be something all dog parks have, but I feel like there's not that much grassy area, instead just dirt.
All in all, it's a great park, and super close to our house. Just always depressing when we go and...
