Good Afternoon Google Family!!! I visited The Olympic Diner for the first time. I have passed by this restaurant a gazzillion times and I decided to stop in today on Monday, the 4th of July. I did not expect it to be open, since many places are closed on the holiday. They open up at 6:30 AM and they close round about 3 PM. They are open 7 days a week, with the same hours. They were closed for a time, during the height of the pandemic, since there was a mandate about eating places being closed until the Corona Virus calmed down a little bit. During that time, they conducted take out services. I went in the door and a wonderful lady greeted me. I asked if they were open and the lady said yes and I proceeded to ask for a menu. I ordered a waffle with turkey sausage links to go and then I changed my mind and I decided to eat at the table. I eat fast and so I was out of there in a jiffy. I was enchanted by the ambiance and decor of the place. They had a pay phone near the restrooms. I had not seen one of them in years and Elaine the owner, said it still worked. Amazing!! They also had the vending machines where you get the prizes ( stuffed animals or candy) if you manipulated the machine correctly. I was never good at those machines, LOL. I always tried them and no luck!! Also they had jukeboxes ( the old timey ones) at the individual booths and believe it or not, I asked Elaine if they worked and she said yes. They played CD's. Amazing again!!! I enjoyed the company of Elaine, the owner and Susie, an employee, who had worked there over twenty years. Susie was gracious enough to take a picture of Elaine and I. I enjoyed my time and experience there on the 4th of July. Yes, my waffle and turkey sausage links were delicious and the cost was about $10.44 and I had a hot chocolate as a beverage. I will definitely return. Have a good day, Google Family!!! Until the...
Read moreWhen we were first seated, we ordered a coffee to start off so we could look over the menu and the waitress first words were is that all you want. Not good morning, not how you doing, nothing, but that's ok. Then me and my wife order bagels, they were not toasted they were burnt and horrible. With the first cup of coffee the waitress brought 4 creamers, the 2nd time it was 3 and it went down one every time we got a refill. On top of that her, 2 other customers, and the others waitress were purposely whispering loud enough we could hear them while they criticized us and made rude comments. Not only was it offensive and demeaning, but extremely immature on their end. She brought us the check with out asking if we were finished or would like anything else. So we didn't order anything else and left. We didn't leave much of a tip as we felt she didn't deserve one, so she then came out to the parking lot and repeatedly thanked us for our tip in a cocky tone. If you don't regularly eat here, i wouldn't suggest going, if you're not a regular, you won't...
Read moreI've been here before because yes the food is good, and super inexpensive, but Saturday May 6th 2023 is the absolute last time I will ever step foot in this racist place again. I walked in with my sweet 3 year old daughter, smiles on our faces, & saying good morning. We were met by a staff member who sat eating and stared at us, and the main waitress (who I recognize has been there for years) who always has a sour look on her face, again just staring at us. Another woman and her son walked in right behind us, and the staff member whonwas eating smiled and said "good morning, sit where ever you like" ...... I made a comment that we weren't asked or told anything, and I walked back out without being served. Now I know being on code when I see it, and after taking a quick glance around and seeing that my 3 year old and I were the only Black people in there, I decided to take my money elsewhere.
Yummy2 diner is right up the street; the location is more spacious, they are happy & welcoming, and the food is always A1!!!! Idk why i didn't go...
