Lumber Legends - Cleveland Axe Throwing — Attraction in Valley View

My husband and I took our three boys, and their girlfriends, this evening for some axe throwing and although we had fun we were not thrilled with our instructor (none of us can even remember his name). He didn’t make the whole TWO games our group played very exciting. I paid for a hour starting at 7. He did take us back a bit early to teach the kids even though most of them had done it before, and I made it clear over the phone, when scheduling that we didn’t want to purchase the extra time for training. 7:36 and the instructor said it was time to wrap it up. We all kind of stood there staring at each other because we didn’t understand why we were not getting the hour we paid for. I asked him about the Lumberland stamp, which the kids were really looking forward to, and his abrupt answer was “we don’t have time mam” I said "it will take a minute". The kids were really looking forward to stamping the girls. He again, in a very rude tone, said "there isn’t time. I have another group coming in". We were scheduled until 8 and should have been allowed to finish out the time I paid for. Doubt we will go to this facility again. Our first experience was great. The instructor was fun. I recommend that you do not waste your time with this establishment, they have poor customer service and organization.

My friend and I saw a groupon for this establishment and thought it would be an amazing & fun experience. We called at least 5 times to try to set up and nobody picked up the phone so we decided to go in and give it a shot. We walked through and found a manager named Jennifer who informed us that though there were open slots online for the day and time we went in, that she could not accommodate us that day because she was preforming maintenance. She proceeded to let us know that we could contact her on her cell phone that is on her business card and set something up with her to ensure we would get in at a time that fit. We messaged her then I stated exactly what we were looking for with detail and asked questions, she gave us the best time on a Friday said that we would be ensured a spot and that she informed the staff so that they were aware. We went in on Friday, they had no idea about us coming in and told us they would try to get us into a group which would put them over the capacity of 10. We waited a long while and decided it was unprofessional & we weren't going to receive what we requested. Today I tried to give them another chance and they once again could not get us in. My family and I had a great time at Class Axe Throwing. I have been to another axe throwing facility, but I liked this one better because they provide an activity director who showed us how to throw and engaged us in games. The other facility I went to just gave us axes and a 2-minute group lesson and then set us loose. I was literally scared the whole time, knowing there were novices with deadly weapons all around, esp me. Having someone with us, coaching us, encouraging us and corralling us with games provided peace of mind, direction and some organized and friendly competition. We liked our director very much, although one family member would have preferred she be more animated and silly for our entertainment purposes. All-in-all it was a fun way to spend an hour with my family. However, the price is steep at $25 per person per that hour, and I really didn’t appreciate the additional $15 processing fee. That surprise charge at checkout when I reserved on line soured me. We just walked in at the other facility, but there was no such charge. Thus, 4 stars...
