I'm not really the type to complain about things; I've never left a bad review ANYWHERE, but this place was absolutely awful. This was about 2 years ago. I wanted a sticker protector applied to my laptop, and I brought it in and showed it to them, and the guy I talked to initially was very nice and said it would be $10. Great! I left my laptop and the protector there. Two days later (which was one day late, but I didn't mind), it was done and I went and picked it up. When I looked in the box at home, they had applied less than half of the pieces of the protector stickers, and the pieces that WERE on were super crooked. I immediately called. At the time I was 17, and I'm a girl and I have a kinda light voice, which I've never minded, but the guy on the phone clearly didn't think I knew what I was talking about, and interrupted me so much that I could barely get a word out. He told me that I should not have expected them to put so many pieces on the laptop for so cheap, and that their time was worth more than that. He kept interrupting when I tried to tell him that they were the ones who had charged me that amount AFTER I had pulled the protector out of the box and showed it to them. I also told him, through a lot of interrupting, that the protector was ruined, since it was so crooked it was completely off the edges and bending in the creases of the laptop, and it cannot be taken off and reapplied. After a very frustrating 10 minute conversation in which I barely got a word out, I told him that I would be bringing the laptop back in to talk to them. I called my friend and she came with me, since I was feeling pretty intimidated by that point. In the store the guy from the phone was once again rude and condescending. (Later I looked it up on the website; this guy is Mark P, if youre wondering.) He told us that he would not fix the fact that they'd ruined the skin OR give a $10 refund for the service, and that to get the rest of it put on he would charge us upwards of $180. At this point I was really frustrated, and determined to not just give in. We were in there for about 45 minutes, during which one customer who was listening gave us a smile and then he left, and another came up and told us that what they were doing was ridiculous, apologized that it was happening, and then she left too. After arguing and standing there for 45 minutes, and honestly feeling like I was gonna cry, they finally ordered us a different laptop protector. I never did get a $10 refund for the service, and honestly didn't want to argue about it after all that. All in all, this was incredibly frustrating, wasted a ton of my time, and made me feel horrible. This was especially due to Mark, who contantly interruped us, wouldn't listen even when we just tried to explain what was going on, and throughout this used a tone like we were idiots. I would never go back here. If you're considering going here, know that if they make any kind of mistake, no matter how obvious, even if they damage your property, they will not fix it.
And to Mark, for your sake, I hope you were just having a bad day and aren't...
Read moreI tried to change my iPhone battery myself. Bad idea! Apple makes it very hard to separate the screen from the motherboard, securing the pieces with glue. Then when you have access to the battery it is stuck down with adhesive strips that are totally unnecessary because with the phone back together there is no room for it to move. There are several very tiny screws and three tiny and fragile ribbon connectors. In the past it was much easier, but now I don’t recommend it for a phone like mine, an iPhone 6s Plus. I simply wanted a way to transfer my data to a new phone before trading in the old one. unfortunately my backup was old. Lesson learned (again). I took it to Apple in Portland and they were not even willing to inspect it because they were afraid of the lithium battery. This terrible service response was despite my calling in and describing the problem I had run into before they set up my appointment. I called Fixoid and they were willing to look at it and tell me whether they would be able to replace the battery without any charge before the work was done. Usually they charge for a repair estimate, but in this case, they were willing to take a quick look because the phone was already open. I could tell right away that they were much more service oriented than Apple. They saved me time and expense by showing me where I had damaged a tiny connector. Because of this I would be unable to replace the battery, which was what was needed to get my data. They had no easy way to recover the data, because Apple has set up the data storage to make it very difficult to retrieve in a phone that is not operating. The phone was toast. They were able to take the phone for recycling. If they had been able to change the battery it would’ve cost two thirds what Apple charges. I would go back to Fixoid anytime and would go there first before trying to get Apple...
Read moreIf l could leave a 10 star review, I would! Alex and his team at Fixoid are the best when it comes to tech repair! They have saved me so many times with various phone issues I've come across over the years. When Apple told me to go kick rocks and buy a new phone when I had an iPhone stuck in some weird boot loop, Alex got it figured out somehow and everything on the phone was restored to how it was previously! Screen repair, battery replacement, earpiece replacement, chargeport replacement they done all that and more without any issues! Now in a world where we heavily rely on our tech, smartphones specifically, keeping all passwords, business data, personal data, and security is pretty solid. We never expect something to happen to our phones to the point where they are not responsive. So I missed a few backups that I probably should've done. And suddenly phone is smashed, front and rear glass, half of the display turns on but not responsive. Can't unlock, can't do nothing. Filed a claim with insurance, they send me new phone! Awesome! But now to transfer my data and everything with all the latest information, well can't do that since totalled phone won't unlock. Security. And can't risk doing a factory reset to lose all my valuable info! One call, Alex at Fixoid, they took care of it! Where the new phone was literally my phone before the incident! All apps that were open previously, still open, just like hitting resume from where I left off before phone got destroyed! Saved me BIG TIME!! This is why I keep coming back to Fixoid whenever I have issues with either phone or laptop, they even fixed a control board for my Tig welder! They not just limited to phones and computers, they fix smartwatches, xboxes, PlayStations, tablets, pretty much anything tech related! 10 out of 10 recommend these guys! Best in the business! Best...
