Excellent food from an unassuming location. I have been to my fair share of spots that look just like this from the outside but rarely have I been treated to such exceptional flavors and quality. I've only been here once but I will be coming back to check out the rest of the menu. We had the falafel plate and a side of lamb shawarma. The lamb was excellent. My favorite part of the meal, it was well seasoned tender and there was plenty of it. The falafel was also very good. Judging by their texture and shape they are of a more moist than normal mix portioned by disher directly into the oil. What you get is a nice crispy outside with a creamy and smooth inside. Less herbs than I like, but a very nice and clearly proprietary recipe. The rice is also distinct and good. The grains are not cooked to oblivion and the seasoning is present but not overpowering. The salad is fresh. Thinly sliced onions and cherry tomatoes with a dusting of feta on fresh lettuce. Lots of places cut corners here but this salad was a fresh and welcome component. The hummus was good. I always dream of a silky smooth hummus with lots of tahini, lemon, salt and not much else. Pure and well seasoned but not as smooth as I am always dreaming of. The pita is soft and moist, but almost too much so. The dolma are also good. Delicate leaves with a flavorful rice filling. The sauces are great but not the best ever. Hummus 7/10, tahini 7/10, garlic 8/10 and tzatziki 7/10. Hummus is a little grainy but better than most, tahini is good as well but doesn't stand out, garlic is the best one of the bunch, tzatziki needs more lemon and herbs for my taste. I feel bad critiquing them so closely but I consider this place worth the small notes. Hands down the best Mediterranean place I've been to in the area. Lamb and falafel are excellent. One thing I have to mention is the water provided has lemon and mint steeping in the chilled dispenser. A delicious touch of class that proves that the owner of this small business is willing to turn it up to 11 on quality while keeping the experience accessible to those of us on a budget. Thanks for...
Read moreIt's not everyday you get treated like family! I will remember this experience the rest of my life. From the moment we walked in, Elias (the owner) was cleaning and continued to clean in between helping each and every customer. You can really tell how clean a place is by the restroom. If it is clean, then you know the kitchen is surely clean! Their bathroom was sparkling! I even took note of him temping the cold food in between customers, which was nice to see.
The food was so delicious! No sauces needed, but they were also tasty. I recommend the lamb platter for sure! The complimentary Falafel was super tasty! We also felt so special (like family really) when the owner decided to share a Frankincense ritual prior to serving us Turkish coffee after I decided to tell him I'd be giving him a 5 star review! Incredibly special and generous!!
I thought it was crazy I had never heard of his restaurant that has been in Clark County for over a decade prior to being at their location off Fourth Plain Blvd and the 500 area. He also takes his food truck to events for catering and such. If you ever get the chance to experience his food and exceptional customer service, I highly recommend you take advantage of that opportunity! We are fortunate to have such a quality restaurant in our area. Thank you, again, Elias for your hospitality and for creating a special memory I'll...
Read moreBeing Greek/Egyptian in my 60’s, I have tried many Mediterranean food options in the Northwest. I am also a great cook so when I came upon Hummus Hummus reviews and what all of them consistently confirm, I had to try it.
Absolutely agree with all of them, the chef is not only adorable and full of pride about his cooking, the food is TOP NOTCH. Many places offer wraps, hummus/tahini/tzatziki sauce etc but the differential is in the mix, spices and how you make your falafels. I always ask vendors how they make their falafels and when they tell me it is a powdered mix that they add water to .. I walk out. THIS chef spelled out everything he uses and the combination is classic & PERFECT: chic peas & fava beans combo, cilantro, parsley, green onions, cumin, salt & pepper.
The portions are generous, the salad is very fresh, the type of pita pocket bread is traditional (not that think flat bread that ends up being 30% of the content of the sandwich instead of a traditional true “pocket”)
We were so impressed with everything about this place, we got 2 warps for lunch, 1 falafel & 1 lamb gyro + 2 combo platters for dinner. The grape leaves are .. well, as good as I make them (but mine have ground lamb in them) !! That means that they are the best ever!
Take my word for it, you will not be disappointed if you try this place out....
