I've visited this museum twice in the last few years (coming from out of town), and it has been a delight each time! I love history, museums, and homes, so there was never a dull moment in either tour. Be aware that when it's slow, they will lock the front door, but there's someone there to open it quickly. The guides are kind, helpful, and very knowledgeable. Patricia and Kathleen are the two tour guides we encountered, and they ended up being our favorite part...

Do not try to come for the 3pm guided tour-upon arrival, we were told by Mrs Doris Rose it takes 30 min to close the doors etc (but a young assistant was present so maybe he could have taken care of that) and we were invited to quickly tour the house on our own and watch the time!! (that was repeated to us many times). So we paid our entry fee ($10 per person) but it is definitely not the welcome nor experience we had...

Worth the Ten Dollar entry fee, cash is accepted. Self guided tour with a volunteer host that is happy to jump in with info when desired. This is a well maintained historic home that is well appointed with historic gems around every turn. I appreciate that we were turned loose to look around, at our own pace. Of course it's about looking and not touching. Most of the house is open with very few...

Amazing tour! Our guide (really wish I could remember her name, but we were there on October 3rd) was AMAZING and knew so much. The group wasn’t even super into history, we just like seeing cool things, and she still made it super interesting and we ended up loving hearing about the history of the house! I would highly recommend anyone in the area see this grand home! Only $5 to tour.

Beautiful historic property inside and out. Many wonderful antiques...lighting, cut glass, Haviland China, primitives, textiles, quilts, iron toys...etc. Our host gave an impressive tour and pointed out many architectural gems. She herself having been educated in American Cabinet/furniture makers was a wealth of knowledge. We really enjoyed spending time with her shared knowledge.
