Dragon's Lair - Wallingford — Attraction in Wallingford

This is my favorite card store in CT, very glad to have found it. I’m collecting old Pokémon cards & they always have a huge selection. I particularly like being able to go through all the single cards myself. Many stores have an online inventory system where you look the cards up on a computer or your phone, which isn’t bad, but part of the fun (to me) is getting to flip through the cards to find ones I’m missing, & I’m able to do that here. So I can post up with my Luca Belle coffee & take my time.

Also - for whatever it’s worth - when I go to card stores, there are rarely other women in the store.

I’ve been to Dragon’s Lair at least 5 times & there were other women there at least 4 times. Today I think a woman was reading a book while her partner played Warhammer which is super cute & really makes me feel like anyone can come in & browse & hang out.

I’ve brought my husband, my 10 year old nephew, & my FIL here & everyone enjoyed it.

My husband appreciates being able to shop for Warhammer miniatures & paint & then helping me flip through the cards.

They also continue to have many MTG events (I saw MTG was a concern for another reviewer).

My wife and I stopped here on our way home from NY. We were absolutely blown away by the environment. We were very happy with the selection in the shop, and also the service provided was unmatched. The staff was very friendly and attentive to everyone, and even the other customers were friendly and helpful. It seems like they foster an excellent community and should be very proud for what they've built. We didn't even realize we were there for a little while after they were supposed to close because we were talking to them for so long. No pressure to leave the store, no pressure to spend more money, just amazing service, amazing people, and a great place. This shop is almost an hour away from where we live, and we have already decided it is now the LGS we will be coming to when we need cards or accessories. It's worth...

I’ve been to both locations and now have interacted with individuals from this store at a card show. I’ve never felt more unwelcome by people as I have in either of these stores. It was shocking. Additionally, rates for trading and selling are genuinely laughable. I felt as if the employees just immediately tried to take advantage of me. Moving onto the card show, I was belittled and spoken to incredibly rudely when I didn’t want to sell specific cards, even though I prefaced before the guy went through my binder which cards weren’t for sale.
